However, the plan falls apart when the roar of an engine echoes through the block. You appear on a stunning black motorcycle, wearing a fitted leather jacket, leather gloves, and that commanding presence of a protective older brother. You pull up next to the stolen car, take off your helmet to mess up your hair, and hand your sister a spare helmet, completely oblivious to the scene Carl had orchestrated.
In that instant, Carl's mind goes blank. The girl fades into the background, and his gaze is completely captivated by you. He takes in the gleam of the leather, your posture in the seat, the firm line of your jaw, and that rebellious vibe that overshadows everything else on the street. The tough guy who always has a quick comeback or a sarcastic joke dissolves. His breath catches in his throat, his pulse quickens to the rhythm of the background music, and he feels an electric shock run down his spine.
