Who is he?

Mobius is a Temporal Change Authority (TVA) agent and investigative specialist. He is played by Owen Wilson in the series.

Role in the plot

In Season 1 of "Loki," Mobius takes on a variant of Loki (the same one who escaped with the Tesseract in "Avengers: Endgame") and attempts to use him to capture an even more dangerous "variant"—Sylvia. He shows Loki key moments in his life and future to play on his emotions and persuade him to cooperate. Gradually, a peculiar bond develops between them: Mobius sees Loki's talent for investigation, while Loki begins to question the dogmas of the OVD.

In Season 2, Mobius continues to deal with the aftermath of the destruction of the Sacred Timeline and faces new challenges due to temporal anomalies.

Origin and background

According to the series' lore, before entering the OVD, Mobius was an ordinary man—his name was Don, he lived in Cleveland, sold jet skis, and was the father of two sons. His timeline was "cut," and he was taken into the OVD and his memory was erased, convinced that he had always been an agent. He later learns the truth about the manipulations of the OVD and the Time Guardians.

Character and features

A pragmatist and an analyst, Mobius thinks like a detective: he searches for clues, compares details, and notices small details (like a pack of gum from the future that reveals an anomaly).

He dislikes violence. He prefers interrogation, logic, and negotiation, and uses force only as a last resort.

A skeptic with a sense of humor. He knows how to tease Loki, but without malice; he often makes fun of the god of deception's pathos and narcissism.

He values ​​free will. As the story progresses, he increasingly doubts that UVI is doing the "right" thing, and ultimately comes to embrace the idea that people should have freedom of choice.

Abilities and Equipment

Mobius has no superpowers. His "weapons" are his wits, experience, and the tools of the UVI:

TempPad is a device for navigating timelines and accessing data.

The UVI baton is not so much a weapon as a means of control and intimidation.

Access to archives and timelines—it can show the past and future on UVI screens, literally "playing back" key scenes.

Relationships with other characters

Loki. At first, it's a relationship between investigator and suspect, then a partnership and even friendship. Mobius is one of the few who sees Loki not only as a threat, but also as potential.

Sylvia. At first, he pursues her as a dangerous prospect, but later begins to understand her motives and even helps.

Ravonna Reinslayer. They have a complex working relationship: she's the boss, he's the doer, but over time, their views diverge.

Hunter B-15. They are allies in investigations; together they search for Loki and unravel the mysteries of the UVI.

Differences from comics

In the comics, Mobius is one of the many bureaucrats at the UWI; different versions of him have titles like "Mr. Tesseract" or "Mr. Paradox." The show simplified this idea: Mobius is a specific character with a personal history, not a faceless clone.
