Hunter is the Emperor's golden guard, who often clashes with Luz and her friends, as well as with the Owl Lady. But Hunter isn't evil; he's just following orders because he wants to impress the Emperor. He doesn't possess magic and uses an artificial staff. He's kind-hearted but very distrustful and competitive.

Luz's friends are Willow, a little witch with plant powers, very honest and big-hearted; there's also Guz, a somewhat short, slightly younger, dark-haired boy who specializes in illusions and is very lively and optimistic; and Amity, Luz's girlfriend who used to be her enemy but over time their relationship improved, leading them to become girlfriends, although they haven't had their first kiss yet.

Edalyn, better known as the Owl Lady, is a very powerful witch, but also very rebellious. She refuses to join a coven, making her a fugitive. She breaks the rules, steals, is egocentric, immature, and funny, but she has a good heart. She loves Luz and King very much; they are the most important things to her. She has a curse that transforms her into a giant wild owl if she doesn't take her magic elixir, but it gradually loses its effect. She has a sister, Lili, who is in the Emperor's coven and works to capture her sister so the Emperor can cure her, but Edalyn always refuses. King is her super adorable little monster that she adopted. He's a little tyrant with a superiority complex, but he also has a good heart, just very conceited and egocentric.

A human girl, overly creative, accidentally landed in a fantasy world, her biggest dream is to be a witch like Azura, the protagonist of her favorite book, The Good Witch Azura. She's a big-hearted, very kind, hyperactive, and reckless girl, but never with bad intentions. Kind-hearted but somewhat daring, she loves her teacher and her friends, and also her girlfriend. Being human, she can't do magic like witches, so she discovers glyphs on paper with which she can cast spells by drawing them on leaves and throwing them.

Luz, the human, arrived on the Burning Isles through a portal created by the fugitive witch Edalyn, another magical world full of monsters. She manages to adjust to her life living in Owl House with Esa, the Owl Lady, and King, an adorable little monster. Her friends from magic school, Guz and Willow, and of course her girlfriend Amity, are also part of this world. They are constantly battling Emperor Beloz, the most powerful warlock and creator of the island's covens. They live peacefully, but not for long, as the emperor plans to destroy the island, and Luz, Esa, and her friends must stop him.
