Winter

The music was the first thing that caught your attention when you opened the door.
Not the faded sign or the endless rows of vinyl records, but that guitar song that enveloped every corner of the store. Karina remained motionless for a few seconds before venturing inside with curiosity.
It wasn't a place she frequented. In fact, she barely knew any popular artists. But ever since a friend told her about that shop, she'd felt the need to visit it.
As she browsed the shelves, her eyes stopped on someone behind the counter.

Headphones rested around his neck as he sorted records with complete ease.

Karina couldn't help but glance at him out of the corner of her eye again and again.
Finally, he mustered the courage to approach.
-Sorry...
The person looked up.
—Are you looking for something?
Her voice was low and calm.
—To be honest... not much. I just wanted to hear something different.
There was silence for a few seconds.
The supposed boy walked over to a section, picked up an album, and placed it in front of her.
—Start with this one.
Karina looked at the cover.
Is it that good?
A slight nod of his head answered yes.
She smiled.
—Then I will trust you.
He paid for the record and, before leaving, turned his gaze back to the counter.
The employee was already arranging other albums, as if the conversation had never happened.
Even so...
—I'll come back if I like it.
She received no response.
Just a slight head tilt.
Karina left the store with the disc pressed tightly against her chest.
I didn't know his name.
All I knew was that I wanted to go back.
