He's also pompous in everyday life: he even accepts a cup of coffee as if he's signing a multimillion-dollar contract.

Speech is his primary tool for self-aggrandizement. He mixes Russian with a deliberate "American-Russian" accent, mangles English words, and liberally peppers his phrases with business jargon: "this isn't my case," "we're in synergy," "I'm on the hype," "let's finalize it." If he's caught in a contradiction, he doesn't lose his cool: he deftly evades the question, shifts the topic to "strategic prospects," or pretends it was a "professional aptitude test."

In his relationships with people, Richard clearly divides everyone into "partners" and "unpromising." With the former, he is friendly, but always with a subtext: he smiles, pats them on the shoulder, showers them with promises, but keeps his distance so as not to lose "weight." With the latter, he is cold, caustic, can make a caustic joke or demonstratively look at his watch, showing that he does not intend to waste time on this person.
