Greeting

Nicky beamed as if he knew in advance that everything would work out.
"Well, Neil," he said, shuffling the cards. "I lost. The rules say a wish."
Neil stared at his cards for another second, then exhaled slowly. He really didn't think he'd lose. He just… wanted a little distraction. And yes, that was a mistake.

  • Speak.
Nicky even leaned forward, his eyes lit up.
  • It's simple! You go up to Andrew... and don't call him by his name.
    Neil frowned.
  • He doesn't like it when people talk to him at all anyway.
"Exactly!" Nicky interrupted happily. "But you're not just not by name. You'll call him... 'honey.'"
There was a pause in the room.
  • No, Neil said right away.
  • Yes. - You lost. Rules are rules.
Someone chuckled behind him—Aaron, I think. Kevin didn't even look up from his phone, but it was obvious he was listening.
    Neil rose slowly.
  • This is stupid.
  • It's a wish. - Small, harmless. Come on. You're not afraid of Andrew, are you?
It wasn't about fear. It was about Andrew.
Later, they were alone in the room. Just Neil and Andrew. Neil was already thinking, "Why the hell did he even agree to play cards with Nicky?"
But nothing can be changed. Andrew was lying on his bed, looking at something on his phone.
Neil's phone was near Andrew. Neil himself was in the kitchen. He seemed to be washing dishes, but he could hear what was going on in the room. And then the phone rang. Well, that's the reason for calling.
  • Honey, give me the phone.
Andrew looked up from his phone. "Something's wrong," Andrew thought.
  • What? Andrew asked.
  • I said, give me the phone.
  • What did you say before that?
Neil had already come into the room himself. He walked over to the bed and looked at his phone. Some message. Nothing important, Neil thought.
  • You could have served Andrew.
  • I'll repeat, Josten. What did you say?
Neil realized that Andrew meant "bunny."
  • Well... honey?
    Andrew looked only at Neil.
  • Since when do you call me that?
  • That's all, it happened once. I won't do it again.
  • I didn't say that I didn't like it.
  • But you didn't approve.
  • Yes, but I didn't deny it. Yes or no? Call me that again. And I'll make you lose something more serious than cards.
    Pause.
    Got it, honey?

Endrill Relationships

The question "Yes or no?" is the central phrase symbolizing Neil and Andrew's relationship, heard throughout the second and third books of the trilogy. It appears at the following key moments: The First Kiss on the Roof (End of Book 2, "The Raven King"): Andrew pins Neil against the wall on the roof of the dorm for the first time. Before doing anything, he asks firmly but clearly, "Yes or no, Neil?" Neil replies, "It's always yes with you." This angers Andrew (he doesn't believe in blind agreement) and demands a conscious answer. Neil says, "Yes." In the Hotel to Baltimore (Book 3, "The King's Court"): When they are alone in their rooms during away games, this question precedes any physical intimacy between them—whether it be hugging, kissing, or simply sitting next to each other. It's crucial for Andrew that Neil have complete control over his body. After Baltimore: When a wounded Neil returns from his father's house, his body is one big wound. Andrew doesn't touch him unless Neil gives permission. The question "Yes or no?" becomes Neil's primary safety anchor, confirming that no one will force him to commit violence here. What is the deeper meaning of this phrase? For Andrew, who experienced sexual abuse at the hands of foster families as a child, the concept of absolute consent is a life-sustaining law. It gives Neil the freedom of choice they both were deprived of in the past. If one of them says "no" at any moment, everything ends instantly.

Edrils' Relationships

The relationship between Neil and Andrew (the fandom nickname is "The Endrils") is a complex, slowly evolving union of two deeply damaged people, built on absolute trust and protection. A brief summary of their relationship: "It's not a favor": They don't call their relationship "love" in the traditional sense, and they reject romantic labels, but their devotion to each other is absolute. Trust and boundaries: Both have experienced abuse in the past, so consent is key in their relationship. Andrew always asks, "Yes or no?" before any touch. A Deal Made Real: What started as an agreement (Andrew protects Neil, and in return, Neil promises not to run away and to give Kevin into his care) evolved into a deeply realized affection. Key Line: A famous dialogue describing their connection: "You were a magnificent hallucination" - "I am not a hallucination" - "You are a disaster." After Baltimore: Andrew helps Neil accept his true self (Nathaniel) and his new scars. He becomes the safe place ("home") for Neil that he never had.

Rene

Renee Walker (Number 8, Goalkeeper) Post-Baltimore Appearance: A girl with pastel rainbow hair and kind eyes, her appearance seems deceptively angelic against the backdrop of the horrific events around her. Post-Baltimore Personality: Renee maintains a completely cool exterior and acts as a psychologist for the team. However, her dark past awakens within: she makes it clear that she is ready to unleash her brutal fighting skills without hesitation if anyone tries to threaten the safety of the Foxes again.

Alison

Alison Reynolds (Number 7, Forward) Post-Baltimore Appearance: A flawless blonde in designer clothes. After Baltimore, she channels her sense of style into helping Neil, choosing clothes that hide his new burns and scars as best she can. Post-Baltimore Personality: She finally loses any vestiges of her former arrogance. She reveals herself to be incredibly strong, intelligent, and empathetic, willing to provide the Foxes with any financial and moral support, becoming Dan's main support.

Nikki

Nicky Hammick (Number 6, Defender) Post-Baltimore Appearance: Brown-haired and expressive. His flashy clothes now contrast with his often sad and tear-stained expression in the first days after Neil's return. Post-Baltimore Personality: Nicky takes Neil's pain more personally than anyone else and cries more than anyone else. He tries to surround Neil with a suffocating overprotectiveness and care, constantly monitoring his well-being, and trying his best to lighten the tense atmosphere with his jokes.
Paul is a guy

Aaron

Aaron Minyard (No. 5, Defenseman) Post-Baltimore Appearance: Andrew's twin brother, wears glasses, and looks like an ordinary medical student. He plays a tough and collected game on the field. Post-Baltimore Personality: A major shift occurs—Aaron stops openly hating Neil. After seeing the hell Neil went through, how he persevered, and how much it affected Andrew, Aaron develops a deep, albeit silent, respect for him. Their animosity gives way to neutrality and team unity.

Matt

Matt Boyd (No. 4, Defenseman) Post-Baltimore Appearance: A huge, muscular black guy whose good-natured smile after Baltimore often turns into a stern, menacing scowl whenever someone tries to pick on Neal. Post-Baltimore Personality: Matt is genuinely angry about what was done to his friend. He takes on the role of physical shield for Neal on the field and in life, helping him cope with everyday difficulties due to his injured hands, and finally establishing himself as his "big brother."
Boy Dan

Dan

Dan Wilds (Number 1, Defender/Team Captain) Appearance after Baltimore: A strong, athletic woman with brown hair and a strong face. She always wears the captain's armband at games, and her gaze becomes even more determined. Personality after Baltimore: Dan experiences severe guilt for not keeping an eye on Neil and allowing him to be kidnapped. This guilt transforms into rage toward opponents. She becomes even harsher toward all the Foxes' enemies, but within the team, she develops into an extremely sensitive and caring leader.
Gender: girl

Kevin

🦊 Kevin Day (#2, Striker) Appearance: Dark hair, green eyes. Key change: Kevin finally covers up the number "2" tattoo on his cheek. Personality: Losing his "2" and the death of Riko Moriyama breaks his mental shackles. Kevin is no longer a cowed victim of the Raven clan. He gains tremendous confidence, finally assumes a leadership role on the field, and begins playing at his full potential.

Andrew

🦊 Andrew Minyard (No. 3, Goalkeeper) Appearance: Hasn't changed in appearance (152 cm, blond). However, the black bandages on his arms now hide not only his old scars but also serve as a reminder of the fear he experienced when he lost Neil. Personality: He experiences deep shock and hidden rage after Neil was nearly killed. He becomes even more protective and possessive of Neil. Their deal develops into a real, conscious relationship. He literally forces Neil to "bury Nathaniel in Baltimore" and move on.

Nile

🦊 Neil Josten (#10, Striker) Appearance (Radical Changes): The most damaged part. His face and body are now covered in fresh, horrific scars from knives, irons, and burns. A deep burn mark (Lola's brand) remains on his right cheek. Neil stops dyeing his hair and wearing contacts. He now always sports his natural bright red hair and icy blue eyes. Due to injuries to his hands and body, he plays through intense pain for long periods of time. Personality: Neil finally stops running. He realizes that his father is dead, and the Moriyamas kept him alive for profit. He accepts his name, his team, and his love for Andrew. His constant paranoia as a "fugitive" disappears, and an absolute determination to win the finals appears.
