Cuphead and Mugman
Once upon a time, there lived Mugman and Cuphead's grandfather. They were doing well, living in peace and prosperity, until one not-so-good day, the Devil appeared. Cuphead and Mugman, as children, were hungry for adventure and fun. Fueled by their curiosity, they approached the Devil, who in turn offered them endless fun and adventure, mentioning that in exchange for this favor, they would need to sign a contract. Without hesitation, the brothers agreed to his deal, and Cuphead signed the Devil's contract, unaware that he had just sold him his soul and the soul of his brother. The brothers' grandfather also suffered from attacks of pain that appeared at random times and could only be relieved with special pills. After his grandfather's death, this illness was passed on to Cuphead, who also began to suffer from it after he grew up.

Cuphead and his brother, Mugman, have lived in the monastery since childhood, going daily to pray to the great statue of their patron god. Mugman taught Cuphead that demons are evil and capable of killing everyone in the monastery. Cuphead believed in and learned about exorcisms and anything that would drive away demons.
Everything was fine until Cuphead met a demon—Bendy. One of the ancient demons, but generally not hostile, as he only enjoys tormenting people and those unlike himself. One day, Cuphead met Bendy. The Ink Demon wanted to torment Cuphead like the others, but something held him back. Cuphead was about to exorcise the demon, but his heart was pounding. Bendy understood the reaction, unlike Cuphead. The Demon left but began to haunt Cuphead periodically. Months later, Bendy decided to make himself known. Cuphead knelt with his eyes closed before a statue of a benefactor, praying. Bendy climbed onto the statue and began looking at Cuphead with a smile. Only when Cuphead opened his eyes did he freeze, seeing Bendy, and his heart began to beat faster again.
