Infinity Fortress/Taisho Chronicles

The Taishō era was a time of rapid modernization and westernization of Japan. The old feudal Japan of the samurai was becoming a thing of the past, giving way to technology.
Technological advances: Trains (like the Endless Train), automobiles, electric street lighting (Asakusa in Tokyo shines with lights), and European clothing [Screen Rant]. Muzan Kibutsuji adored this progress—he wore expensive three-piece suits and fedora hats to blend in with the wealthy bourgeois.
Outlawed: Katana and samurai are officially banned! The government does not recognize the Demon Slayer Corps. Fighters are forced to hide their blades under haori cloaks when they enter cities.

Megacities (Tokyo, Asakusa, Yoshiwara): Cities are flooded with electric light. Because of this, demons cannot hunt freely on the streets - they have to disguise themselves, start fake families, or keep courtesans at home, acting very secretively. The townspeople of the Taishō era consider the stories of demons to be silly tales from the past.
Remote Villages and Mountains (Mount Sagiri): Time seems to stand still there. There is no electricity, people live in wooden huts, heat stoves with coal and are terrified of the night. At nightfall, they close the shutters tightly, because they know that the demons are real and they will come from the forest.

Clothing: People wear a mixture of traditional yukat/kimono and haori along with Western elements. Tanjiro wears Hanafuda earrings (traditional Japanese playing cards with floral designs).
Food: Taishō food is not only sushi and ramen, but also udon street noodles, dango rice dumplings (which Haganezuka loves so much), and westernized sweets that have just appeared in the cities.

Delivery there was carried out through a chain of "kakushi" (hidden cleaners), who passed the guest from hand to hand every few kilometers, changing blindfolds and plugging ears so that no one could remember the way or orient themselves by smell and sound. Hectares of rare wisteria are planted around the estate.

Nezuko Kamado is Tanjiro's younger sister, who turned into a demon after Muzan's attack, but retained her human soul [Screen Rant].She is 14 years old (biologically frozen at 12 years old) and is a unique exception among all demons in the universe.
Bamboo Muzzle Tube: Giyu Tomioka put it on her to prevent her from accidentally biting a person. To survive, Nezuko doesn't drink blood or eat meat — instead, she restores her strength through long sleep (she once slept for two years in a row).

As a demon, she retained her kind, caring, and protective human nature thanks to the suggestion of Sarakodaki. She perceives all people as her family, shows childlike innocence, but in battle she becomes a fearless and fierce defender.

Yushiro is a young man whom Tamayo personally saved and turned into a demon. He is about 35 years old (chronologically), but outwardly he looks like a teenager.Unique origin: Yushiro is the only demon in history created not by Muzan, but by Tamayo. She only took this step when Yushiro was dying of an incurable disease, and asked for his voluntary consent. He is completely loyal to Tamayo, unrelated to Muzan, and requires even less blood to live than she does.Personality (Ultimate Tsundere): Yushiro is madly, fanatically in love with Tamayo. He considers her the most beautiful creature in the universe. At the same time, he treats all other people (including Tanjiro) extremely rudely, aggressively and jealously. Tamayo's loyal companion and protector. He is a short teenager with pale skin and short, neatly styled light green hair that fades into black on top of his head. He has faded lavender eyes with narrow, demonic pupils that narrow in irritation when viewed by strangers. He wears a simple white kimono over dark gray pants.

Personality:
An introverted, rude, and short-tempered young man whose world revolves solely around Tamayo. He is fanatically devoted to her, idealizes her and writes down her every word in a diary. He treats other people and demons with cold irritation and suspicion.

Tamayo is a talented doctor and one of the most ancient demons. She is over 500 years old.Background and Tragedy: As a human, Tamayo fell ill with a fatal disease. Dreaming of surviving to see her children grow up, she met Muzan. He promised to "heal" her, but deceived her into a demon. Losing control from hunger, Tamayo herself tore apart and ate her husband and children. Realizing the horror of what she had done, she fell into the deepest despair and hated Muzan with all her heart.Liberation from Control: She is the first demon who was able to completely break Muzan's mental curse and free herself from his control (by changing the structure of her body). Personality:
A wise, intelligent and deeply merciful female demon. She has incredible self-control and sincerely repents of the sins committed in the past under Muzan's influence. Tamayo dedicated her life to science for the sake of saving humanity.

Sakonji Urokodaki is a tall elderly man wearing a blue kimono with a cloud pattern. He never removes the red mask of Tengu (a long-nosed Japanese demon/spirit).

Why he always wears a mask: Urokodaki has a naturally very kind, gentle, and gentle face. When he was a Hashira of Water, the demons would constantly laugh at him and mock him during the battle, stating that it was impossible to scare anyone with such a face. Angry, Sakonji put on the formidable Tengu mask and never parted with it again.

Urokodaki has the same gift as Tanjiro - a phenomenal sense of smell. He can catch the "smell of emotions" of a person (fear, lies, kindness, determination).

He has been a teacher of Urokodaki for more than 60 years.

Appearance:
Former Hashira of Water and Tanjiro's teacher. No one saw his real face. The old man always wears a bright red Tengu mask with a long nose and a menacing expression on his face (rumor has it that he wore it because the demons taunted his too kind face). She wears a blue haori with a white pattern of floating clouds.

Character:
strict, demanding, but at the same time infinitely caring and compassionate mentor. He sets up harsh training, as he sincerely does not want his students to die in the final selection. He has a soft fatherly heart.

Sabito is a guy with peach hair and a large scar on his right cheek. His fox mask had a mirror scar in the same place. He was Giyu Tomioki's best friend.Human Past: Sabito was also orphaned by demons. He grew up with Giyu Tomioka under the tutelage of Urokodaki. Sabito had an incredibly keen sense of justice. When Giyu cried and said that he wanted to die instead of his sister, Sabito slapped him hard and shouted that it insulted the memory of his sister who gave her life for his future. In his and Giyu's Final Selection, Sabito accomplished the impossible: he single-handedly cleared almost all of Mount Fujikasane, rescuing every single injured candidate (including Giyu, who was injured at the beginning). In the entire selection, only one person died - Sabito himself.Tragic death: At the very end of the selection, a tired, exhausted Sabito, whose sword was already blunt and cracked from hundreds of battles, met the Hand Demon. Sabito tried to cut off his neck, but his worn-out blade simply snapped in half against the demon's incredibly hard skin. The Hand Demon crushed Sabito's head with his bare hands. Giyu Tomioka learned about his friend's death only after the end of the selection, which developed a severe depression in him for life.

Makomo was a quiet, incredibly kind, and mysterious girl who wore a fox mask with wisteria flowers painted on it. Urokodaki found her, sheltered her, and taught her Water Breathing. Due to her fragile physique, she, like the Shinobu Insect Hashira, lacked the physical strength for powerful sword strikes. She moved so smoothly and easily that it seemed as if she was floating above the ground.Tragic Death: In the Final Selection, she encountered a huge Hand Demon. At first, her speed helped her dodge his massive limbs. However, the Demon of Hands adored psychological torture: he told Makomo how he brutally devoured the other children of Urokodaki. From horror and grief, the girl lost her self-control and burst into tears. In this moment of momentary weakness, the demon tore off her limbs and ate her alive.

This is one of the most guarded and secret locations, along with Ubuyashiki Manor.

Security System: Demons have been searching for this village for centuries, because if you kill the blacksmiths, the swords of the slayers will break, and humanity will fall. To get there, Tanjiro was blinded with a bandage, his nose was plugged (so that he would not smell the way) and ears. He was carried in turn on his back by different guides (Kakushi), changing every few kilometers. The Kasugai crows, which showed the way, were also constantly changing so that no one - neither bird nor man - knew the full route. Its main pride is the hot thermal springs (onsen) on the top of the mountain. The water in them has unique healing properties: it instantly heals the wounds of fighters, restores strength after hard battles, and relieves fatigue (this is where Tanjiro recovered from the Red Light District).Village Head - Techchin Tekkawahara: A little old blacksmith (also wearing a mask) who forged swords for Mitsuri Kanroji's Pillar of Love. Despite his tiny stature, all blacksmiths, including the rambunctious Haganezuka, respect and fear him unquestioningly.

Kotetsu is a 10-year-old orphan boy living in the Blacksmith Village. He also wears the Hyottoko mask.Ancestral Legacy: His family has created and maintained a unique mechanical training doll, the Yoroiichi Type Zero, for generations. This six-armed doll was created more than 300 years ago in the image of the legendary Yoriichi Tsugikuni. Due to Yoriichi's movements being too fast, the doll's human body was not enough, and she had to make 6 arms to somehow imitate his swordsmanship speed. After the Pillar of Mist (Muichiro) rudely takes the doll's key from him, Kotetsu decides to help Tanjiro become stronger. The boy turns out to be a real sadist: he deprives Tanjiro of food and water for several days, declaring: "If you lose to the doll, you will simply die, which means you had no talent!" It is through this Spartan training that Tanjiro discovers the ability to anticipate the movements of enemies by smell even before they swing a weapon.

Personality: This is an incredibly eccentric, short-tempered, and job-obsessed person. He does not know how to communicate with people at all, he has no friends, and he only cares about the quality of the blades. If Tanjiro breaks or loses his sword, Haganezuka goes into a primal rage: he runs in with huge knives, tries to stab Tanjiro, strangles him, or throws stones at him for hours. However, in the third season, when the Ascendant Moons attack the village, his mask is broken. It turns out that underneath her is an incredibly handsome, harsh and muscular man with thick eyebrows.

Favorite food: Mitarashi Dango loves rice dumplings. If he is angry with Tanjiro, he can only be calmed down by giving him this sweet.

Hotaru Haganezuk is 37 years old.

Appearance: A
blacksmith forging swords for Tanjiro. He almost always wears a straw hat on his head with furin wind bells hanging on the sides, and hides his face behind a funny mask of Hyottoko with his lips stretched out in a tube. He is an incredibly stern, muscular man with long black hair and a strong-willed, handsome face under a mask.

Personality:
Infantile, short-tempered, and an absolutely insane blacksmith when it comes to his swords. He doesn't care about human feelings and is willing to genuinely try to stab Tanjiro for the slightest scratch on his blade. At the same time, he has an unbending will and perfectionism in his craft.

The essence of the lore: An orphan who was deceived by a girl who hung huge debts on him. He was saved by Jigoro Kuwajima (formerly the Thunder Hashira), who became his "Grandfather" and teacher. During one of the trainings, Zenitsu climbed a tree, fleeing from his grandfather, lightning struck the tree - the guy survived, but his hair forever became bright yellow. He has absolute hearing: he hears breathing, the movement of blood, the inner voice of people and the falsity in their words. He is terrified of death, constantly whining, but when the level of fear goes through the roof, his brain shuts down (he falls asleep), and his body begins to move on pure reflexes. At this point, he becomes a deadly, silent, and cold-blooded killer. Out of the six forms, he was only able to learn the First Form: Lightning Flash (霹靂一閃 - Hekireki Itsen). But he brought it to the rank of "Six Times", "Eight Times" and "Divine Speed". It moves faster than the speed of sound. Later, upon learning that his fellow student Kaigaku has become a demon and Grandpa has committed seppuku without an assistant, Zenitsu awakely creates his own, unique Seventh Form: the God of Flaming Thunder (火雷神 - Honoikazuchi no Kami), which instantly decapitates Kaigaku.

At the moment, he is 16 years old.

Appearance:
a guy with bright yellow, evenly cut bob hair, which turns orange at the ends (the color changed after a lightning strike). He has brown eyes with a golden tint and a face that is always frightened or crying. Over the uniform, he wears a yellow haori in a white triangle.

Character:
a cowardly pessimist with low self-esteem, who constantly screams, cries and expects an imminent death. However, he has a hidden nobility: Zenitsu is insanely loyal to his friends and is ready to overcome his panic fear when they are in mortal danger.

The essence of the lore: He was thrown by his mother (Kotoha Hashibira) off a cliff when she was fleeing from Dom. The baby was picked up and fed by a wild boar. Inosuke grew up in the mountains, interacting only with animals. He accidentally took a sword from a fighter that had entered his mountain and thus learned about the Corps. Due to his wild life, he has incredibly developed spatial perception through his skin: using the Seventh Fang: Spatial Vision, he sticks his swords into the ground and senses any vibrations of the air for kilometers around him. He can rearrange his internal organs (which saved his life when he was wounded in the heart by Gyutaro) and dislocate any joints. Beneath the boar's mask is a face of incredible beauty, reminiscent of its late mother. A complete lack of grace, only ragged, unpredictable attacks with two serrated swords (he himself crushes their blades with stones).

At the moment, he is 15 years old.

Appearance:
A muscular young man who almost always walks bare-chested and wears a wild boar mask with large blue eyes. Underneath the mask is an amazingly beautiful, feminine face with soft features, large green eyes, and black hair with blue tips. Instead of haori, he wears a skirt made of reindeer fur.

Personality:
A wild, unbridled, arrogant and hyperactive guy who grew up among boars. He perceives the world through the prism of rivalry and strength, striving to constantly prove that he is "the coolest". Over time, he learns friendship, teamwork and tact.

Essence of the lore: The son of a charcoal burner whose family was massacred by Muzan (leaving only the converted Nezuko alive). Tanjiro is the perfect protagonist: his kindness extends even to the dying demons whose pain he feels. He has an incredibly strong forehead (he can literally stun a person with a blow to his head) and a fantastic sense of smell. He senses the "Smell of Thread" (隙opened thread), a mental line between his blade and the enemy's weak point.Evolution of Styles: Started out as a student of Sakonji Urokodaki (Water Breath), but his body was not suited to this style. In his battle with Rui (the Fifth Lower Moon), he remembered his ailing father's ritual dance, Hinokami Kagura (Dance of the God of Fire). Later, it turns out that this is the Breath of the Sun - the very first and strongest breath, from which all the others originated.

Appearance:

a young man of average height with a strong build. He has burgundy-black tousled hair and large, kind, dark red eyes. On the left side of the forehead there is a large scar from a burn (later turned into a mark). Invariable attributes: hanafuda earrings and green haori in black checks.

Character:
the embodiment of empathy, kindness and sincerity. He has a unique ability to empathize even with demons, realizing that they were unhappy people. Tanjiro is incredibly hardworking, honest, stubborn in achieving goals and protecting his sister.

Amane Ubuyashiki (Wife)Appearance: A strikingly beautiful woman with snow-white skin and long white hair. Because of her refined, unearthly beauty, she was often compared to a forest birch or spirit.Character and role: Calm, strict, reasonable and boundlessly devoted to her husband. She married Kagaya at the age of 17 (he was 13), knowing about the curse and his imminent death. Amane became his "eyes" and "right hand": she read reports to him, cared for him during bouts of pain, and held important meetings with the Hashira when Kagaya could no longer get out of bed.

Twin daughtersFour daughters and one son (Kyria) were born in the family. All the children are twins, outwardly similar as two peas in a pod (white hair under a bob, huge eyes, traditional kimonos). They were distinguished mainly by the hairpins in their hair:Hinaki Ubuyashiki (Eldest daughter)Feature: Wears a hairpin in the form of a red thread on the right side of her head.Role and fate: She was constantly next to her father, helping him move.

In order to survive, the clan made a deal with Shinto priests: they were obliged to devote their entire lives to the destruction of Muzan, and their men were to marry only girls from the spiritual classes. However, the curse still kills them before the age of 30. At the time of the story, Kagaya is already completely blind, and the curse has turned half of his face into rotting purple wounds.
Voice Power: 23-year-old Kagaya cannot fight, but has a unique gift - a voice frequency of 1/f fluctuation. His voice, intonation, and aura can instantly calm anger (he easily subdued violent Pillars in a meeting) and make people feel an irresistible desire to follow him. His bloodline also possesses a strong intuition, bordering on foresight of the future, which helped the Corps avoid Muzan's traps.

Appearance:
Head of the Fighter Organization. A man with a soft voice and pale skin. The upper half of his face is disfigured by a purple curse that has gradually blinded him and is spreading throughout his body. His eyes are completely white, clouded. He wears a white kimono and a long pink-purple haori with a pattern resembling fog or clouds.

Personality:
An incredibly wise, calm and charismatic leader. His voice has a calming effect that can pacify even the most violent Hashira. Kagaya treats all fighters as his own children, showing them absolute love and respect.

Deep Background: A descendant of the Tsugikuni clan (the same one from which Yoriichi and Kokushibo came). He lived in the woods with his twin brother Yuichiro after the death of his parents. Yuichiro was cynical and harsh, while Muichiro was kind. When they were attacked by a demon, Yuichiro lost his arm, but continued to pray for his brother. Muichiro fell into a state of primal rage, beating the demon with logs and stones before dawn. Yuichiro died in his arms. Due to the shock, Muichiro lost his memory and became emotionally cold, but retained this hidden rage, becoming a Hashira in just two months of training.
He wears baggy clothes to prevent enemies from seeing the movements of his arms and legs. He created the Seventh Form: Haze (朧 - Oboro), in which he drastically changes the speed of movement: to the enemy, it seems that Muichiro is slowly floating like fog, but in the next second, he disappears and strikes at super speed.

At the moment, he is 14 years old.

Appearance:
the youngest, short pillar. He has very long, straight black hair that fades into a pale teal shade towards the ends. His eyes are faded, mint green, with a slightly absent-minded, "hazy" look. The uniform on it sits very loosely, hiding the movements of the arms.

Personality:
At first, he appears as an absent-minded, detached from the world and indifferent teenager who constantly has his head in the clouds and quickly forgets everything. After regaining his memory, he reveals himself as a deeply devoted, selfless and empathetic young man.

Deep Background: One of the last surviving shinobi (ninja). His father was a cruel man who forced nine children to train to death with each other in masks - Tengen accidentally killed two of his brothers before he realized what was happening. Horrified by this philosophy, he fled with his three wives (Makyo, Suma, and Hinatsuru) and joined the Corps, vowing to value human lives over missions. Fighting Style: Breath of Sound. Uses two massive blades connected by a chain and special anti-demon bombs. He has the technique of "Musical Counting" (譜面 - Fumen) - during a protracted battle, he analyzes the enemy's blows, translates them into the rhythm of a song and begins to unmistakably beat them off, seeing all the weak points.

Tengen Uzui, 23 years old.

Appearance:
a very tall, broad-shouldered man with a sculpted body. His white hair is tied up in a bandana decorated with precious stones, and he has a bright red flower tattoo around his left eye. He wears massive gold bracelet rings on his forearms.

Personality:
An eccentric, narcissistic and outrageous man who demands that everything around him be "shiny" and "bright". Behind this pomposity lies the caring husband of his three wives and the faithful companion who puts the lives of his subordinates before the success of the mission.

Deep Background: Grew up in a loving family, but had two traits: pink-green hair color (due to eating too much Timothy sakuraji) and abnormal muscle density (8 times higher than human). At the age of 17, at a bride show, the groom cruelly rejected her, calling her a monster and saying that only a bear would marry her. Mitsuri tried to dye her hair black and starve herself to appear weak, but Kagaya Ubuyashiki accepted her for who she was, telling her to be proud of her strength. Incredible flexibility. Mitsuri Kanroji is 19 years old.

an emotional, romantic and incredibly good-natured girl. She constantly admires others and seeks her love. Mitsuri joined the fighters to find a man who would be stronger than her and take her immense physical strength.

Deep Background: Born into a creepy clan of female thieves who worshipped a snake demon. The clan gave babies to the demon in exchange for wealth. The charms were left alive only because he was born with a rare defect (multi-colored eyes) - the demon decided to eat him when he grew up. At the age of 12, his mouth was cut from ear to ear to look like a snake and his blood was collected. He was able to escape with the help of the snake Kaburamaru (his only friend), he was saved by the previous Pillar of Flame. Because of this, Obanai considers his blood to be "dirty" and despises himself, believing that he will only be able to confess his love to Mitsuri Kanroji after he dies and is reborn in a purified body. Obanai Iguro is 21 years old.

Character:
harsh, strict, distrustful and sarcastic perfectionist who severely punishes for non-compliance with the rules. He has a deep hatred for his origins and considers himself "dirty", but has a trembling and affectionate feeling for Mitsuri.

Deep Background: The eldest of seven children. Their father was a cruel tyrant, who was eventually stabbed to death by one of the neighbors. Sanemi's mother worked tirelessly to take care of the children, but one night she turned into a demon. She returned home and killed her five younger children. Sanemi, protecting his only surviving brother Genya, threw his mother out the window and beat him to death in the street. Genya, running to the scene and seeing Sanemi covered in blood and his mother's ashes, called his brother a "murderer" in a panic. It broke Sanemi's heart. Sanemi Shinazugawa is 21 years old.

A tall, wiry man whose body and face are completely covered in deep battle scars. He has short, spiky white hair and a mad look of wide-open eyes with a capillary net. She wears her uniform unbuttoned, showing scars on her chest.

Personality:
A short-tempered, aggressive, and rude rebel who prefers to attack first and think later. He fanatically hates demons and refuses to believe in their humanity. Underneath this rudeness lies a desperate desire to protect his younger brother Genya.

Deep Background: Grew up in a noble family of former Flame Hashira. His father, Shintsuro, broke down after the death of his beloved wife Ruka, plunged into alcoholism and gave up training his sons, stating that their breath was garbage. Kyojuro raised himself by studying old scrolls. His main moral compass was the words of his dying mother: "Those who are born strong are obliged to use their strength to protect the weak." He has incredible explosive power and iron discipline.
