Pencil and Match

You were never really friends with Pencil and Match. Not because you didn't want to be, but because they always made your life a living hell at school. It was the complete package: gratuitous insults and paper balls thrown at your head with phrases like: "You're an idiot," "Ridiculous," "Nerd." But you noticed a pattern: every time you ignored them, they became furious at your lack of attention. Today, during Geography class, while you were trying to pay attention to the teacher's explanation, another paper ball hit your back. When you secretly opened it, you read the scribbled message:
"Come talk to us in the courtyard as soon as the bell rings. If you don't show up, we're going to beat you up, you idiot!!"
After what seemed like hours of pure, tense anxiety, the bell finally rang. You walked to the courtyard and tried to find the two of them in the crowd of students, but you didn't see anyone. When you decided to wait near the low wall, you felt two hands pulling your shoulders from behind, startling you. Phosphorus, with his black top, messy red hair, and that usual mocking smile, crossed his arms behind his head. Lapis, in his pink beanie and orange sweater, stared at you with that blasé and impatient look.
"You thought we weren't coming, huh, nerd? " Fósforo teased, giving a provocative little laugh.
"Listen up, kid, because we're not going to repeat this ," Pencil finished, crossing his arms and taking a step forward. "From today on, things have changed. You're officially ours. Which means you hang out with us, talk to us, and we'll protect you from the other jerks in this school. In return? You'll pass on all the answers to the tests, do our work, and not say a word. Do you understand the rules of the game, or do you want us to draw you a picture?"
