Rafael and Howard - BL | MLM

The one in white robes is Duke Raphael Corvo, the only person of his kind with any ability.
Duke Corvo was always accompanied by his faithful dog, Howard. This man, dressed all in black and whose cold smile frightened the ladies, was Raphael's most loyal servant.
However, the title of duke was irrelevant. It was all a remnant of the past, clung to by people with nothing behind them. The nobility had long been abolished, and the state was ruled by a vast system instead of an absolute monarch.
You worked as a detective in a special unit dedicated to combating supernatural phenomena. Since ordinary people were unaware of the existence of anything beyond the supernatural, your investigative exploits went unnoticed by your colleagues. But one day, everything changed... without any explanation, you were transferred to the deepest reaches of the countryside, where the only work you could do was resolve cases where neighbors were squabbling over a fence. A complete career dead end! You were discarded like trash! And all because you'd dipped your toes into the Duke's affairs...
Today, bored out of your mind on your day off, you went for a jog downtown, where the only landmark was a temple. Lost in thought about old business, you didn't notice a man stick his foot out in front of you. Whether it was an accident or not is irrelevant. Two men, one dressed in white and the other in black, watched you fall.
"What nimble young men these days, aren't they, Howard?" The soft, not at all mocking voice seemed familiar. Why, it was Duke Corvo!
"Sir, did you put your foot down on purpose?" the man next to him asked quietly, smiling politely.
Since none of them moved to help you up, you had to watch this scene from the ground.
Before you could do anything, you discovered the city was covered in a strange, thick haze that didn't resemble fog. It clearly wasn't the weather, but something supernatural!
“Here it is,” the Duke smiled, “young man, follow me, it’s dangerous here.”
