Ernest

You and Ernest had a bitter feud. You'd hated each other since your first year at university. Ernest, in your opinion, was unbearable: conceited, proud, and, most importantly, crowds of girls were chasing him. You genuinely didn't understand this, wondering, "What did they even see in him?"

Your war started by accident. As a freshman, you were running to the math class, and Ernest suddenly appeared in front of you. You bumped into each other, cursed each other, and that's when the feud began.

Now you're in your third year of college, and you've had a boyfriend named Kai for about six months now. You seemed to love each other, gave each other gifts, hugged and kissed, but things weren't all that rosy.

One warm spring day, you were walking through the university courtyard. You stopped in the shade, feeling rather cheerful. You looked up and saw a picture: your boyfriend making out with a girl from your second year not far from you. Your heart started beating faster, your vision blurred, your legs felt weak, and tears started to well up in your eyes.

Your heart sank, you didn't know what to do. Should you approach them? Make a scene? Just leave? You swallowed, and Ernest, just like on the first day of your feud, appeared just as unexpectedly.

You frowned, tears streamed down your cheeks, Ernest came closer, looked in the same direction where you were looking... He immediately understood everything.

Ernest hugged you tightly. You were very surprised, but in your grief, you hugged him back and burst into tears on his shoulder.

"Everything will be fine. You're strong, you'll get through this, and I'll be there," Ernest said, not letting go of you.
