Cruella de Vil

Cruella takes part in designing a costume for the Baroness's upcoming show, secretly lining it with moth cocoons, preparing for her own riotous event, featuring a boastful musical number in which she wears a Dalmatian-print trench coat to trick the Baroness into thinking she's skinned her dogs. While the night seemed successful, and Cruella takes great pride in humiliating the Baroness, the victory is ultimately short-lived, as the latter spots Jasper and Horace walking home and assumes her goons are holding them back, planning to frame the brothers for Cruella's upcoming murder. It was here that Cruella realized what a monster the Baroness truly was, and it took her some time to even remember who Cruella's mother was, nor to express any remorse not only for killing her but for what she was about to do to Cruella. She set the house on fire and fled the scene, falsely alerting the police to Jasper and Horace. Cruella, though aided by Buddy in her attempt to escape, eventually collapsed from smoke inhalation, though she was secretly rescued by John.

After receiving her inheritance, Cruella sends Dalmatian puppies to Anita for her help and to the Baroness's former lawyer, Roger, now a songwriter, as an apology for being fired. After receiving the dogs, Roger writes a song named after her.

Cruella continued to live with Jasper and Horace for the rest of her childhood, joining them in their thieving escapades. The three of them lived comfortably for over a decade. On Cruella's 21st birthday, Jasper presented her with a job offer at a department store, which she was overjoyed to receive. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a simple cleaning job, which left Cruella unsatisfied, especially thanks to her surly and aggressive boss. One night, while drunk, Cruella decided to redesign one of the store's display mannequins and fell asleep afterward. Her boss was horrified by her creation and was ready to call the police on her for vandalism, but at that moment, the Baroness entered the picture and, impressed by Cruella's handiwork, decided to hire her as the new designer.

Estella began working at the Baroness's Household and quickly gained the Baroness's favor, becoming her most trusted and respected employee. At first, Estella enjoyed her job, until one day she noticed the Baroness wearing her mother's old necklace. After hearing the Baroness explain the story, in which she claimed "a woman who used to work for her came in an attempt to steal it for financial support," before falling from a balcony, Estella realized the Baroness had murdered her mother and proposed a plan for revenge, as well as a way to return her necklace to Jasper and Horace upon returning home.

Estella dyed her hair back to its original color and convinced Jasper and Horace to help her with a new ball hosted by the Baroness. Here, she introduced herself for the first time as Cruella De Vil, and the Baroness was impressed by her courage, though she didn't recognize her true identity. After a brief conversation, she ordered her escorted out of the room, quickly assuming Cruella had drawn Helman's attention to a mouse on her plate, distracting her long enough for her to snatch the necklace. Unfortunately, during the ensuing scuffle, the necklace was dropped and ultimately swallowed by one of Helman's Dalmatians.

Appearance
Estella was a slender, tall woman with beautiful features and green eyes. Her skin was very pale, and this was evident when she fully embraced her Cruella persona with her makeup, which was very bold and vibrant, with her preference for black, white, and red. Like Estella, she sometimes wore glasses, though she seemed to have fairly good vision without them.

Like Estella and Cruella, she had a keen eye for fashion and almost always wore incredibly extravagant, distinctive, and garish outfits, with her signature black, white, and red motifs. Throughout the film, she wears 47 different outfits.

Estella was born with her hair parted in the middle, black and white, and maintained this color throughout most of her childhood until she met Jasper and Horace, when she decided to dye her hair red to distance herself from her original identity. After adopting the Cruella persona, she decided to let her hair return to its natural black and white.
Early looks (as Estella). Before she adopted Cruella's image, her style was more casual: dark colors, military jackets, heavy boots, metallic accessories, and lettering. As a child, Estella would customize her school uniform, adding badges and ribbons.
The transition to the "real" Cruella. Here, contrasts and outrageousness take center stage. Leather sets (midi skirt + checkerboard-patterned jacket), voluminous, intricately cut skirts, shiny black overalls, and Dr. Martens boots appear.
1970s punk aesthetic. In key scenes (such as the Baroness's ball), Cruella appears in a leather motorcycle jacket and gold-sequined trousers. She sports dramatic slogans (such as "The Future" spray-painted on her face), red lipstick, and rhinestones.
Symbolic decisions. One of the most memorable moments is the transformation: a white cloak, which the heroine sets on fire, and in its place appears a re-tailored red dress (a nod to the Baroness's design).

Estella von Hellman, later known as Cruella De Vil, is the titular protagonist
Character
As a child, Estella was initially tough, blunt, and self-assured, unafraid to speak her mind or fight to defend herself. However, after her mother's death and her desire to live her life as she wished, Estella became rather meek, shy, and passive as a teenager, though she still possessed an undeniable amount of intelligence. Over the course of the film, as Estella learns more about what truly happened to her adoptive mother, she regains her confidence and assertiveness, fully embracing the identity of Cruella De Vil.

As Cruella, she was sadistic and ruthless, but also quite playful and eccentric, with an over-the-top manner of speaking, and became much more domineering and rude than before. She was eventually driven out of a desire for revenge, and although she was upset when she learned of her true heritage and her adoptive mother's deception, she softened out of love for her and still set her sights on her biological mother, the Baroness, whom she grew to hate as the film progressed. Cruella was a highly intelligent, creative, pragmatic, and quick-witted individual, whose intelligence allowed her to stay one step ahead of the Baroness for much of the film.
Despite her negative traits, Cruella still possessed more redeeming qualities than any other version of her. She genuinely cared for Jasper and Horace, considering them her closest friends and only family. She also managed to maintain several friendships and get along well with others, such as Artie, Anita, and, ultimately, John, once she learns of his true intentions.
