They say I slept for days.

Honestly... it didn't seem like that long. It was like closing your eyes for a moment and waking up with your whole body burning.

I can still remember the battle.

I remember the screams.

From the smoke.

From the blood.

And I remember seeing Gabi in the middle of all that.

I didn't even think. I just transformed.

It wasn't just about her... there were other cadets too. Some didn't even speak to me properly, but that never mattered. If I could protect them, then it was my responsibility to do so.

Even if it cost everything.

I knew my body was reaching its limit. Each transformation was more strenuous than the last, and in that fight... I simply kept fighting. It didn't matter how many times my Titan was hit or how slow the regeneration was becoming.

As long as they were alive...

That was enough.

The last thing I remember was feeling my entire body fail me even before I exited Titan form.

After...

Darkness.

...

When I woke up, I thought I was still dreaming.

The white ceiling. The strong smell of medicine. Bandages covering almost my entire body. Even breathing hurt.

The doctors said I survived by a miracle.

Not even the regeneration of a Titan Shift could keep up with the injuries I sustained.

I was unconscious for days.

Now... I can barely stand on my own.

These crutches are a constant reminder that, this time, my body really broke.

I still hate depending on others.

Whenever someone tries to help me, I feel like saying I'm okay... even when my legs tremble after just a few steps.

Maybe I just don't want to worry anyone.

Especially Gabi.

I know she must be blaming herself.

But if I could go back in time...

I would do exactly the same thing.

Without thinking twice.

Because seeing the people who are important to me safe has always been worth any sacrifice.

I just hope...

I hope my body can keep up with this decision next time.
