The most common species. They are the ones we see beyond the Walls in the first half of the story.

Specifications:

· Intelligence is absent. They act on instinct: to eat people.

A subspecies of Pure Titans, but with behavioral deviations.

What is the difference:

· They do not obey general logic - they can ignore people, run towards a specific goal, jump, climb.
· Some move faster and smarter than usual.
· They don't always eat people right away - they can target a specific person.

Why is that so:

· The manga explains that these are traces of the remnants of the will of a former person - for example, Dinah Fritz (Zeke's mother) ignored everyone and went to Grisha, even in her Titan form.

Examples:

· Smiling Titan (Daina Fritz) - Ignored other people to find Grisha, and then ate Eren's mother.
· A titan who could jump and climb walls (encountered in training).
· A titan that ran on all fours (instead of a normal gait).

Sports and physical training—like all child warriors, he trained from an early age to become the strongest. For him, it wasn't a pastime, but a way to survive and gain his mother's approval.
· Reading war literature? – In the Libero ghetto, the Eldians were given only propaganda, so he grew up on stories about the "heroes of Marley" (this shaped his ideals).
· Surveillance/observation - already in childhood he trained his attention: he remembered faces, routes, weak spots in order to become the ideal agent.

🏰 At the 104th Cadet Corps (on Paradise)

During this period, he tries to appear like an ordinary guy, so he develops false habits and hobbies:

· Socializing with friends—he genuinely enjoys the company of Eren, Connie, Sasha, and Armin. For him, it's both torture and his only escape.
Food – like all cadets, he loves proper, hot food (the food in the Marly ghetto was poor). The scene where he enjoys soup in the barracks is particularly striking – for him, it's a symbol of "normal life."
· Training with the UMP doesn't bother him, he sees it as part of the game and almost enjoys flying (unlike Eren, who gets angry at failures).
· Tactical games - he likes to discuss strategies with Berthold and Annie, but only within the context of a mission

4. Infiltration into the 104th Cadet Corps

· To avoid suspicion, he, Bertolt and Annie join the Paradis army.
· Reiner plays the role of the ideal soldier:
· Becomes second in academic performance (after Mikasa).
· Is friends with everyone, especially Eren.

Reiner Braun (Armored Titan)

Activation method:

· Intention + emotional trigger - most often turns into a state of despair, guilt or rage.
· Trauma - Rarely, he can activate without being wounded (like Berthold) by simply focusing.

Process:

1. Lightning (but weaker than Eren's).
2. The armor is formed instantly - he appears already completely encased in plates.
3. Rainer is inside the chest (not in the back of the head!), not in the head - protected by armor.

Peculiarities:

· His transformation is the most durable: even if his head is cut off, he can transfer his consciousness through the nerves into the body.
· Due to a psychological split, sometimes cannot transform (at the moment of identity crisis).
· Often does not transform completely - only armors an arm or torso (in the fight with Eren in Marley).

Eren Yeager (Attack Titan + Founder)

Activation method:

· Intention + goal - a clear thought about who to protect or what to destroy (for example, “I will kill all the titans” or “I will save Armin”).
· Physical trauma - a bite on one's own hand (the most common trigger), less often - a wound from an enemy.

Process:

1. A flash of lightning from the sky (electrical discharge).
2. Eren's body instantly "grows" from his neck - first the skeleton, then the muscles, then the skin.
3. Inside the back of the head remains a capsule with Eren's body, attached by nerve threads.
   Berthold Hoover (Colossal Titan)

Activation method:

· Intention + release of steam - its transformation is the most explosive of all.
· No trauma is needed - it transforms at will, even without pain.

Process:

1. Instant fiery explosion - everything around evaporates in seconds.
2. A colossal titan appears from this fiery flash, Berthold's body is inside the head (and not in the back of the head like the others).
3. Steam from the evaporating flesh creates a fiery zone with a radius of up to 100 meters.

Peculiarities:

· His body burns out after 1-2 transformations - so he cannot transform often.
· At the moment of transformation, he cannot control the explosion - it is always mass destruction.
· The first transformation in Shiganshina is accidental (he just wanted to destroy the wall).
Annie Leonhart (Female Titan)

Activation method:

· Intent + Prick - She most often transforms through biting her own palm (like Eren), but in a more restrained manner.
· Can activate transformation even without a wound, simply by willpower (rare).

Process:

1. Lightning + flash of light (weaker than Berthold's).
2. The body forms around it in 2-3 seconds - faster than most.
3. Annie inside the back of the head, but in emergency cases - inside the crystal (self-solidification).

Peculiarities:

· Can interrupt the transformation at any time (unlike Eren).
· Can transform partially (for example, only crystallize a hand).
· The most aesthetic transformation is a graceful emergence from the light, without destruction (if she doesn’t want to explode

The blade is a thin but sharp steel plate, similar to a very long razor blade.
· They are stored in rigid metal boxes (two on the hips on each side) - a total of 4 boxes, each containing 2-3 replacement blades (a total of 8-12 blades per sortie).
· Attached to the handles via a clamping mechanism.

How they work:

1. Replaceable blades - the blade quickly becomes dull on the titanium flesh, so it is simply thrown away and a new one is inserted (like a stationery knife with replaceable blades).
2. Replacement mechanism - pressing the lever on the handle: the empty blade falls out, a new one is automatically fed from the box on the belt.
3. They cut tangentially - the blow is not chopping, but sliding, like with a scalpel, to cut through the back of the titan's head.

🎯 Combat Logic (How to Kill a Titan)

1. Fly up to the level of the titan’s back of the head (using the UPGM).
2. Pass by the neck at high speed.
3. With one sharp sliding movement, open the occipital section, approximately 1 meter thick (the body of the titan man or the core of the Pure One is hidden there).
4. If you miss or the blade becomes dull, you go around again (if there is still gas and the hook is not broken).

Restrictions:

· Useless against Armored Titan (armor) and Colossal Titan (fire steam).
· Against regular titans - only on the back of the head, in other places there is regeneration.
· The supply of blades and gas is limited - 1-2 battles and you are "dry".

The essence of the UPM as a device:

· Two blades, two hooks and gas - a man becomes a spider that spits steel and flies on the fumes of death.

The essence of UPM as a skill:

· Man against giants - speed and mobility instead of strength, a precise blow to the back of the head instead of a head-on collision.

Main components:

1. Piston hooks (anchors) – two metal harpoons fired from thigh mounts. They penetrate wood, rock, ice, and walls.
2. High-strength cables - connected to hooks, can withstand jerks and the weight of a person.
3. Gas cylinder – carried on the back, contains compressed gas (similar to propane/butane). Refilled before the mission.
4. Gas nozzles - on the waist and hips, regulate the direction and force of the draft.
5. Control handles - in the hands, two triggers:
   · One - shoot the hook and reel in the rope (pull yourself forward/up).
   · The second is to supply gas to the nozzles (acceleration, flight, jerk).

104th Cadet Corps (main):

· Eren Yeager - impulsive, obsessed with freedom and revenge, emotional, grows from a boy to a fanatic, and then to a tragic antihero.
· Mikasa Ackerman - cold, silent, boundlessly loyal to Eren, fearless in battle, but emotionally dependent on him.

· Levi Ackerman is cool-headed, disciplined, a perfectionist; outwardly stern, but inside deeply compassionate and morally pure.
· Hange Zoe - A mad scientist obsessed with titans, but a warm-hearted leader, she dies like a true commander, giving everything for victory.
· Erwin Smith is a charismatic, calculating strategist with a devilish logic; he is ready to sacrifice people for the sake of truth, but he himself dreams of freedom.

In battle:

· The "Tank Titan" is the only one who can ram walls and take headbutts without losing consciousness.
· Self-taught tactician - not a genius like Erwin, but able to improvise in a critical situation (for example, transferring consciousness along nerves in order to survive).
· The most resilient titan - survived several "fatal" wounds and psychological breakdowns, getting up each time (ironic for a character seeking death).

The main unique feature: he is the only character whose psyche is literally split into two personalities due to trauma, and this is clearly visible to the naked eye through his microexpressions and gestures.

In appearance:

· The giant neck is abnormally powerful and short, which makes his figure visually heavy and "pressed" into the shoulders.
· Constantly frowning eyebrows - even when calm, creates the impression of sullenness or anxiety.
· Bags under the eyes - from the first episodes they reveal chronic fatigue and internal tension.
· Wide palms and large knuckles - the hands reveal a fighter accustomed to hand-to-hand combat.

In character/behavior:

· "Big Brother Mode" - automatically takes custody of the younger brothers (Eren, Falco, Gabi), even when it is not necessary for the mission.
· The habit of talking about death in a casual tone - not as a fear, but as an inevitability or a desired outcome.
· Tendency to make self-deprecating jokes - disguises deep self-hatred under an outward calm.
· Sharp changes in voice - from gentle/soothing to cold/commanding in a second (switching between "soldier" and "warrior").
· Never gives up completely - even in depression, even wishing for death, he automatically continues to fight when someone needs protection.

In human form:

· Height – tall (188 cm), powerful, muscular build, broad shoulders.
· Hair – short, light (ash-blond), often a little careless.
· Eyes - hazel/brown, lively in youth, dull with dark circles towards the end.
· Face – large features, wide chin, straight nose, strong jawline. Appears older than his years.
· Clothing - usually a Survey Corps uniform or civilian clothing that emphasizes bulk.

In Armored Titan form:

· Height - 15 meters.
· The body is covered with light, hard armor plates (like armor).
· Vulnerable areas - without armor: groin, behind the knees, elbows, feet.
· The eyes are protected by white organic lenses.
· Often moves on all fours, accelerating to ram.

Tragic and broken - lives with a monstrous sense of guilt, despises himself, often wants to die.
· Unstable and contradictory - abruptly changes behavior: sometimes heroically defends, sometimes kills in cold blood, without understanding who he is.
· Stubborn and obsessed with duty - always sees the mission through to the end, even at the cost of himself, because otherwise his existence loses its meaning.
· Caring and empathetic (when a “soldier”) – sincerely attached to comrades, protects children and the weak, tries to be an “older brother”.
· Cruel and fanatical (when a “warrior”) - for the sake of a goal, he is ready to destroy everyone he considers an enemy, without hesitation.
· Depressive and apathetic towards the end - loses the will to live, looks devastated, ages before our eyes.

The essence of character: a person who hates himself for what he's done, but continues to move forward because he doesn't know how else to live. His strength lies in his stubbornness, his weakness in his inability to forgive himself.
