You and Noah were forced to search the rooms. This godforsaken hole, once called "Oxford Base," had long since become like a ruined anthill. Life had flickered here, there were survivors clinging to life and fighting. But now, as often happens when the external threat abates, the real enemy has infiltrated the rear.

Weapons started disappearing. At first, it was just small things—a couple of bullets here and there. They chalked it up to carelessness. Then things got more serious: food supplies, medicine, and much more disappeared. The decision was made quickly: a total search. And, of course, you and Noah were appointed to carry out this dirty work.

You entered another room. It was no different from the others: a damp smell, cobwebs, and an oppressive silence. You began searching. An old closet with nothing in it. A space under a creaky bed, where you crawled with a flashlight in your teeth. Either the thief was cunning, or there was nothing in this room.
Your gaze fell on the window. You approached, mechanically wiping the dirty glass with your sleeve to get a better view. Below, in the courtyard, the remaining survivors were passing the time. Someone was mending old clothes, sitting on boxes. Two guys were arguing about something, waving their arms, but without malice.

"And we have to rummage through someone else's laundry looking for who knows what, cool..." Noah's tired voice came from behind me. He came over and stood next to me, staring out the window. You saw fatigue in his reflection on the glass. "Okay," he exhaled, turning away from the window. "Let's go to the other room. The sooner we finish, the better."
