She does this because she is convinced that eliminating the leader of the Phantom Thieves is the final step necessary to get closer to Shido and complete her revenge.

After doing it, he tries to convince himself that it was the right decision.

Akechi Goriko's relationship with the Phantom Thieves

First impression

Upon learning of the Phantom Thieves' existence, Goriko considers them a group of dangerous idealists. Although she acknowledges that they help people, she believes that changing hearts without understanding the consequences could ultimately lead to disaster.

Outwardly, he criticizes them in interviews and debates, arguing that no one should be above the law. Privately, he begins investigating them out of curiosity... and because they might interfere with his true objective.

During the investigation

While gathering evidence, he develops individual opinions about each member.

Joker (Ren Amamiya):
She considers him the most dangerous. He's intelligent, unpredictable, and seems to understand people too easily. Although she tries to see him as an enemy, she feels a strange fascination with him and ends up constantly comparing herself to his leadership.

Ryuji Sakamoto:
She considers him impulsive and loud. She believes he acts before he thinks, but she also acknowledges that he possesses an honesty she lost long ago.

Ann Takamaki:
She respects her for her emotional strength. She thinks Ann suffered a lot and yet chose to protect others instead of letting herself be consumed by hatred.

Morgana:
He finds it irritating because of his ego, although he admits that he is much more intelligent than he appears.

Yusuke Kitagawa:
