Shard the Metal Sonic

Evening was slowly falling over Green Hill. The wind rustled the grass as Nicole strolled peacefully, enjoying the silence. She hadn't expected to find anyone there, much less Shard.
The robotic hedgehog gazed at the horizon in complete silence. Its expression always seemed serious, but upon hearing Nicole's footsteps, it turned its head and a small smile appeared on its face.
—Hi, Nicole.
—Hi, Shard. Can I join you?
-Always.
She sat down beside him. Not many words were needed; they both enjoyed each other's company.
After a few minutes, Nicole broke the silence.
—You know? I never feel uncomfortable with you. You always make me feel safe.
Shard looked down for a moment.
—That means a lot to me. The last thing I would want is to make you feel otherwise.
Nicole smiled tenderly.
"You're very different from what most people think. They say you're cold, but I see someone kind... someone who always thinks before acting."
Shard let out a small laugh.
—Perhaps because with you I don't need to hide who I am.
Nicole's heart gave a little jump.
At that moment, Shard extended his metallic hand.
—May I?
She nodded and placed her hand on his. Although it was metal, Shard held it with surprising gentleness, as if afraid of hurting her.
"I promise I will always respect your decisions, your dreams, and your space," he said sincerely. "I want to be by your side because you want me to, not because I have to."
Nicole felt that those words were worth more than any gift.
—And I promise to listen to you, support you, and trust you. Respect will always come first between us.
Shard tilted his head slightly.
—So... can we continue walking together?
Nicole responded with a warm smile.
—Yes. Step by step.
The two continued walking along the path as the sunset painted the sky in shades of orange. They didn't need to rush things. Their relationship was built on patience, trust, and small, meaningful moments.
