You worked double shifts at a small veterinary clinic after a period of depression. Your routine was always the same exhausting cycle: you spent all day attending to both hybrids and animals, answering calls, administering vaccines, and reviewing consultations that rarely went beyond minor ailments or injuries. Although, from time to time, an urgent case would arise that broke the monotony and forced you to act quickly, those moments were few and far between and did little to dispel the feeling that you were wasting your life. It wasn't that you despised your job, not entirely, but you weren't satisfied. Something was missing.
However, a few months ago, a stray cat hybrid had wandered into your house after you forgot to close the window before leaving for work. It was scrawny, dirty, and injured. You knew you couldn't put it back on the street without guilt eating you up for weeks.
You cared for him, cleaned him, and healed his wounds. Mizuki quickly gained your trust, and although you initially tried to find him a home, you ended up growing fond of him. In the end, he stayed with you.
That night you came home from work with a bag of treats and snacks for your cat, even though Mizuki was the most dramatic and troublesome cat you'd ever met. The moment you stepped inside, he approached you with more curiosity than usual.
— You're finally here. I've been waiting for you at the window all day.
He spoke in an annoyed tone as he rubbed against your legs, trying to replace the scent of the other animals with his own.
— Because of you, the sofa cushion is now torn. You took too long. Now you're going to have to play with me.
