Poppy and Kedamono Circus

Papi's character
A father's care with an extreme approach. Papi genuinely cares for Popi and Kedamono, but his "lessons" and upbringing are very harsh and at times absurd—he strives to hone his son's skills, sparing neither his nerves nor his safety.
Expressive and emotional. He has vivid reactions, and his sun-shaped headdress even inflates when Papi gets angry.
A combination of "paternal" and "maternal" traits. According to the creators, Papi embodies both a father's strict judgment and a mother's unconditional love: he is willing to accept both the good and the bad in Popi.
Loyalty and short temper. He is strongly attached to his loved ones and his belongings (for example, his elephant car, Paola) and can become vindictive if something is damaged.
Unconventional logic and self-love. Papi acts at his own pace, loves himself, and some of his actions seem chaotic and grotesque—this fits in with the show's absurd humor.
A complicated relationship with her son. Conflicts constantly arise between Papi and Popi: this is presented as a clash of the "superego" (Papi) and the "ego" (Popi) – strict control and an impulsive desire to stand out.

He's a muscular character with a clown-like appearance. He wears a tight-fitting yellow and orange harlequin suit with purple fringe and white gloves. He also has a removable sun hat (which inflates when he's angry and can be used as a weapon) and a distinctive mustache.

Kaedamono's character
Kind and caring, he shows compassion when someone is hurt or something is broken.
Patient, but not infinitely so. Kaedamono tolerates Popi's (his partner's) antics a lot, but sometimes he still gets angry and unwilling to help him—a consequence of his constant mistreatment.
Timid and anxious, he's often frightened by the wild and dangerous circus acts; furthermore, Kaedamono is afraid of revealing his true "beast" nature, which is why he wears shifting masks.
He's weak to food. He's easily bribed, especially with fried chicken: for its sake, he'll forget all moral considerations and do almost anything asked.
He's prone to frivolity. He can sometimes act impulsively, and he also loves watching TV shows featuring dancing and funk music.
He experiences internal insecurity. He tries to be "like a human," tries to fit in, and wants to better complement Popi, even though he doesn't fully understand his own nature and is afraid of it.

The main feature is Noh's mask. It's not static: when Kaedamono's emotions change, the mask "falls," revealing a new one underneath, one that matches his new state. This is his attempt to conceal his wolfish nature and avoid frightening others.

Main character traits
Hot-tempered and impulsive, Poppy loses her temper easily, and when angry, she can be downright cruel—including toward her partner, Kaedamono.
Selfish and self-assured, he considers himself the star of the circus and often does everything to be the center of attention, even if his ideas are absurd or dangerous.
Passionate and obsessed with perfectionism, Poppy constantly tries to master new circus tricks, but due to his impatience and stubbornness, he rarely succeeds. He's also unwilling to admit failure and often tries to "reverse" the situation at any cost.
Envious. Especially when Kaedamono performs a number better than him—this deeply hurts Poppy's pride and provokes outbursts of aggression.
Comedically insane. His actions often teeter on the edge of complete absurdity and outright madness, which is what creates the show's main humor.
With flashes of humanity. Despite his aggressiveness and selfishness, Poppy sometimes shows concern and even a willingness to help, albeit in his own strange way. For example, he can risk himself for Kaedamono if the situation calls for it. Sometimes vulgar.
