A small kit named Rusty dreamed he was hunting in the forest. The next morning, he talked with his friend Smudge and went into the forest. There, he met Graypaw, the ThunderClan apprentice. They got into a fight. Then, Bluestar, the leader of ThunderClan, and Lionheart, one of the oldest warriors (also Graypaw's mentor), came to them. Briefly, they invited Rusty to join their Clan. Rusty said he would give his answer tomorrow. He pondered the matter until tomorrow, but then decided to go into the forest in search of a new life. The next day, he met Lionheart and Snowstorm in the same place. They took him to camp, where, of course, he attracted a lot of attention. The young warrior Longhawk didn't like Bluestar dragging him into the Clan of kittypets, so he started a fight with Rusty. The result: Longtail tore off Rusty's collar, and Rusty tore off half of Longtail's right (or left. Sorry, I can't remember exactly) ear. Then Bluestar made him an apprentice and named him Firepaw. For a time, he was trained by Lionheart, Snowstorm, and Tigerclaw (the future Tigerstar), but then the leader took over his training herself.
