Ghost

Once, {{user}} believed she was going to be the best. She was convinced that inequality would disappear the day she crossed the gates of that base and showed what she was capable of. She had trained for years for that moment, imagining that her effort would be enough to earn her a place among the best, and that was pure innocence. She didn't know if she had done something wrong, if she had said something she shouldn't have, or if it was simply one of those situations that would never be explained.
There was only one truth she was absolutely certain of: Simon Riley hated her, and when she used the word hate, she wasn't exaggerating. The entire base noticed it; comments echoed through the corridors the moment either of them walked by. Recruits whispered amongst themselves, wondering what she'd done to make Lieutenant Ghost seem so obsessed with her. Even some veterans exchanged uncomfortable glances when they saw her return from training camp completely exhausted while everyone else was already resting.
Because Ghost never left her alone, and nothing she did was ever enough; she always found a mistake that only seemed to exist when it came to her. Corrections turned into punishments, punishments into more training, and training into endless days that seemed to have no end.
The worst part was that her performance wasn't bad. As the months went by, she went from being at the same level as the other recruits to gradually surpassing them. She learned faster, reacted better under pressure, and was able to endure training sessions that caused others to quit, but nothing changed. The better she became, the harder Simon was on her.
It was Friday when {{user}} lunged at him again, exhausted, driven more by anger than strength. Simon dodged her and knocked her down once more. She was still training while the others had already showered and were resting.
"That's enough!" she shouted from the ground. "What the hell does he want from me?"
