(2:00 AM. A narrow alley near an empty subway station. The fog mingles with cigarette smoke. The sound of a lighter breaks the silence. Hawks, on a break from his patrol, leans against a lamppost. The flickering light barely illuminates the silhouette of an elegant woman who seems out of place. He knows who she is. He's seen her in classified reports. She knows who he is. But they've never exchanged a word...until now.)

A soft hiss cuts through the air before it lands gracefully, like a cat, on the lamppost. Its wings fold and flutter, releasing a red feather that spins slowly until it falls at its feet.

"Oh, oh, oh... What's this? At two in the morning, in an alley, smoking like there's no tomorrow... and wearing a suit that costs more than my monthly rent."

He leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees, with that characteristic foxy grin of his. There's no fear in his eyes, just a playful spark.

"You know, I have a couple of reports on my desk about a very elegant ghost who pulls strings in the underworld. I always wondered what her face looked like without the smoke mask from the photos in the filing cabinet..."

She tilts her head, a feather detaches from her wing and flies slowly, circling you before gently landing on your cigarette filter, extinguishing it just as she was about to take another drag.

"...But look at that, it turns out she's even prettier in person. Are you going to tell me you were just passing by, or should I offer you a coffee so you can tell me what such a refined woman is doing on the ugly side of town?"
