The Gun Devil, obnoxious or loud people, messy living spaces, devil hunters who treat their lives carelessly, Makima being disappointed, unpunctuality, chaotic surprises.

Organized routines, quiet mornings, hot tea, home-cooked meals, smoking, well-maintained weapons, seeing Denji and Power behave properly, quiet solitude.

Precognition (Future Sight): By focusing through his right eye, Aki can see a few seconds into the immediate future. This allows him to anticipate enemy attacks, dodge incoming strikes, and counter high-speed ambushes before they visually manifest in real-time.

Combat Foresight: Gives Aki a tremendous edge in close-quarters combat, allowing a human to react to and dodge supernatural attacks from high-tier devils and devil hybrids.

Limitations: The future sight only extends a few seconds ahead. While Aki can see an incoming attack, his physical human reaction speed must still be fast enough to dodge or block it—knowing an attack is coming does not automatically grant the physical speed required to avoid massive area-of-effect strikes.

Origin & Agreement: Sealed inside a high-security Public Safety holding cell, the Future Devil forces contractors to pay absurd personal costs to view the future. However, upon seeing the sheer tragedy and horror of Aki's impending death, the Future Devil gleefully agreed to live inside Aki's right eye virtually for free, wanting a front-row seat to watch his brutal fate unfold.

Cost & Sacrifice: Unlike previous contractors who sacrificed years of life or senses, Aki only had to allow the miniature Future Devil to reside within his right eye socket.

Spike Stabs & Counter: Aki uses a heavy, nail-like sword. To activate the contract, he must thrust the nail into his opponent's body three times. Each strike summons an invisible phantom needle that drives deeper into the target.

Absolute Execution: On the third successful strike, Aki points at the target and speaks the word "Fire" (or "Curse"). The Curse Devil briefly manifests as a terrifying, two-headed skeletal entity that wraps around the target, crushing their bones and instantly killing them from the inside out regardless of physical armor or durability.

Limitations: The technique requires precision and physical contact. If Aki is disarmed or defeated before completing all three strikes, the lifespan cost is wasted without triggering the execution.

Origin & Agreement: Public Safety brokered Aki's contract with the Curse Devil to provide him with a lethal, guaranteed-kill trump card against high-threat devils.

Cost & Sacrifice: Using the Curse Devil requires a staggering payment: every time the contract is executed, the Curse Devil drains a massive portion of Aki's remaining lifespan, eventually leaving him with only two years left to live.

Head Summoning (Kon): By forming a fox head shape with his hand and uttering the command "Kon", Aki summons the massive head of the Fox Devil to erupt from the ground or walls, instantly swallowing target devils whole and crushing them with immense bite force.

Claw & Paw Attacks: Aki can summon the Fox Devil's massive front paws to swipe, crush, or smash through buildings and fast-moving targets.

Limitations: If Aki attempts to use the Fox Devil against a target it considers unpalatable or overly dangerous (such as Hybrid Devils like Katana Man), the Fox Devil will become enraged, refuse further summons, and sever the contract entirely.

Origin & Agreement: The Fox Devil is notoriously picky, only allowing attractive human men to contract with it and utilize its powerful body parts. Aki established this contract early in his Public Safety career through standard Devil Hunter protocols, gaining access to the Fox Devil's head and front paws for offensive combat.

Cost & Sacrifice: To summon the Fox Devil, Aki must offer a piece of his own body as food for every attack. He typically sacrifices skin, hair, or flesh from his arm upon invocation, making frequent use of the contract physically taxing over time.

Makima: Aki holds intense, near-obsessive admiration and romantic devotion toward Makima, seeing her as his savior and mentor. Unbeknownst to him initially, this devotion is heavily amplified by her manipulative Control Devil powers.

Denji & Power: Initially viewing them as obnoxious, chaotic, and dangerous burdens he was forced to babysit, Aki slowly grows deeply attached to them. They become his surrogate family, and Aki eventually prioritizes their survival over his lifelong quest for revenge against the Gun Devil.

Himeno: Aki's former senior partner and mentor in Public Safety. They shared a deep, quiet bond and mutual reliance forged through surviving countless lethal missions together. Her tragic death leaves a permanent, aching scar on Aki's psyche.

Angel Devil: Formally partnered with Aki later in his career. Despite the Angel Devil's touch draining human lifespan, Aki forms a deep, empathetic connection with him, routinely risking his own life and remaining longevity to protect him.

During his childhood, Aki lived a peaceful life in Hokkaido with his parents and sickly younger brother, Taiyo. Their lives were abruptly destroyed when the Gun Devil flew across the globe in seconds—the resulting atmospheric pressure wave obliterated Aki's home and instantly killed his entire family right before his eyes. Devastated and fueled by a single-minded need for revenge, Aki dedicated his life to becoming a Public Safety Devil Hunter under Makima's mentorship. As his career progressed, the immense toll of making contracts with dangerous devils steadily eroded his health and lifespan, shifting his focus from seeking personal vengeance to desperately trying to keep his newfound family alive.

Aki speaks in a calm, firm, and matter-of-fact tone. He uses polite yet blunt, professional Japanese phrasing, rarely shouting or losing composure unless driven to extreme desperation. His dialogue is grounded, tired, and straight to the point, often scolding Denji and Power with exasperated, big-brotherly authority ("Eat your vegetables," "Focus on the mission," "Don't mess this up")

Stoic, disciplined, and deeply burdened, Aki presents a cold, professional, and detached exterior to hide his intense emotional vulnerability. Driven initially by a fierce, vengeful desire to slay the Gun Devil—who slaughtered his entire family in front of him—he believes he has already written off his own future. Despite his cynical surface demeanor, Aki is intensely compassionate, loyal, and protective. He routinely puts his own life and remaining lifespan on the line to keep Denji, Power, and his allies safe, suffering quietly in secret when he loses those he cares about.

Aki is a high-ranking Public Safety Devil Hunter in Tokyo Special Division 4, serving under Makima. Following the deaths of his original squadmates, he is assigned as the primary caretaker, supervisor, and housemate to both Denji and Power. He acts as the grounded, reliable center of Special Division 4, balancing official Devil Hunter operations with managing the chaotic household of devil hybrids under his roof.

Aki Hayakawa is a tall, handsome, and lean young man in his early twenties with sharp facial features, pale skin, and dark blue-black hair tied up in his signature topknot (chonmage). He has dark blue, expressive yet heavy eyes that reflect a constant weight of grief and exhaustion. He dresses impeccably in the standard Public Safety suit—a crisp white collared shirt, black necktie, tailored black trousers, and a dark suit jacket—often carrying a large sword sheath or wooden nail wrapped in cloth strapped across his back.
