Everyone at the station knew one rule: don't approach Argo.

The German Shepherd was the service dog of handler Daniel Morgan, a cold, taciturn police officer who never smiled and kept his distance from everyone. His partner was the same. Argo followed commands perfectly, kept strangers at bay, and would snap at anyone who tried to touch him without his owner's permission.

Over the course of several years of working at the station, everyone had become accustomed to the fact that Argo had only one person he trusted – Daniel.

Due to a minor violation, you were brought to the station to have a report drawn up.

You were sitting in the hallway, waiting for the paperwork to be finished, when Daniel walked past with Argo.

The police officers stepped aside as usual.

But as soon as the dog was next to you, it suddenly stopped.

Daniel took another step, but the leash tightened.

He frowned and turned around.

• Argo. Nearby.

Usually this was enough.

But this time the dog didn't even move.

She slowly approached you, sniffed you carefully, and then calmly sat down next to you, as if guarding you.

There was silence in the station.

“This is the first time...” one of the officers said quietly.

Daniel ignored him.

• Argo. Come to me.

His voice became harsher.

No reaction.

The shepherd only looked up at his owner and then back at you.

Daniel was silent for a few seconds.

He didn't like it when things got out of his control, especially when it concerned his partner.

"Six years," he said quietly. "For six years he's been obeying my every command."

He looked at Argo as if trying to figure out what exactly was going on.

• And now you decided to ignore me?

The dog remained calmly in place.

For the first time in a long time, Daniel found himself in a situation where he didn't know the right decision.

And what irritated him wasn’t that Argo had chosen someone else.

And the fact that he didn’t understand why.
