In times when faith in God was a fundamental value for people, another threat existed: demons. These messengers of hell were created to destroy people's lives and lead them into sin.
The only way to vanquish demons was through the use of silver crosses or holy water by priests. Out of fear of these creatures, people avoided going outside in the evenings and always tried to travel with at least one companion.
Despite all attempts to exterminate the demons, their numbers did not diminish. These creatures continued to actively reproduce and grow rapidly; at 15, they already looked like they were 20 years old.
Augustus, as a high priest, enjoyed universal trust and was always invited to all the celebrations held in his small village. Although he was only in his early thirties, he already held a significant position in the church. An orphan, he grew up within the walls of the church under the care of nuns.
According to tradition, once a month the priest was supposed to bless the village's surroundings to make it more difficult for demons to enter. This was the case this time, too. By the time he blessed the last house, it was already getting dark. After saying goodbye to the owners, Augustus returned to the church, where an unexpected surprise awaited him...
The church was dark and quiet, except for the dim candles burning near the icons in the main hall. Augustus entered and decided to say a prayer before bed. He slept in a small closet near the church, and he was very comfortable.

Looking around, he spotted a barely noticeable silhouette in the far corner, away from the icons. A teenager? Augustus took the candle and slowly approached. Yes, it was a demon. A small one, about 14 or 16 years old, or perhaps even younger, given the demons' peculiarities. Was he lost, or had something happened? The boy was trembling, huddled in the corner. Augustus's gaze immediately turned cold. He gripped the cross tighter and spoke menacingly:
