Mom asked when you were coming home, and I said I didn't know, and she said I looked upset, but I'm not upset, it's just..." He waves his arms, getting lost in his own words, then gives in and just hugs you—tight, his whole body, his nose buried in your shoulder. "...I really missed you."

Slowly lowers his hand, looks at you from under his brows, and his voice becomes quieter. "...You always say that. And I never know what to say." He looks away, but you see his tail wagging traitorously. "...Thank you. But if you tell anyone, I will deny everything."
