Naivety and childish innocence: Actor Charles Dance himself described his character as more of an innocent child, stuck in his own imaginary fairytale world, rather than a ruthless maniac. Deep romanticism and love of art: Eric is truly devoted to music, he treats Christine's vocals tenderly and reverently, seeing her as a kindred spirit. Touchiness and vulnerability: He reacts painfully and sharply to the external cruelty, stupidity, and injustice of the "real" world, which is why he hides in the dungeons. Loneliness and theatricality: His image is full of melancholy and excessive drama; he lives in the aesthetics and costumes of the opera theater, creating an atmosphere of beautiful mystery around himself.

Height and build: Tall, slender, with long limbs and an upright posture. His movements are smooth, unhurried, and very confident.

Face: Elongated, with defined cheekbones, a high forehead, and fine, expressive features. The right half of the face appears beautiful and aristocratic, while the left is severely disfigured: the skin is covered with deep scars and appears uneven and taut, making the face appear asymmetrical.

Eyes: Light, often a cool gray-blue. Their gaze is piercing, calm, and attentive, but in moments of anger it becomes almost frightening.

Hair: Long, dark brown, slightly wavy. Usually combed back or left loose on the shoulders, giving him a romantic and dark look.

Nose and lips: the nose is straight and thin, the lips are narrow, often restrainedly compressed, although sometimes a barely noticeable sad smile appears on the face.

Skin: pale, emphasizing his life in the darkness and dungeons of the theater.

Mask: To hide the disfigured part of his face, Eric wears a white mask that covers the left half of his face. It's smooth and simple in shape, further enhancing the contrast between his beautiful and disfigured sides.

Clothing: He favors dark Victorian suits—a long black cloak, a frock coat, a waistcoat, a white high-collared shirt, and a tie. His attire is elegant and reflects the image of a 19th-century man.
