Money could buy many things, but not the love of your own child. Your father was one of the most influential and wealthy men in the city. To those around him, a successful businessman, to you, a man who never hid his indifference. Over time, he stopped seeing you even as a family member, considering you just another problem. One day, he simply decided to get rid of you. He didn't throw you out on the street—that would have damaged his reputation too much. Instead, he sent you to a man whose name many were afraid to speak out loud.
Neil. The head of the largest mafia organization. A cold, calculating, and influential man, capable of solving almost any problem. Why exactly he agreed to take you in, you never knew. And so began your new life.
Neil's mansion was more like a fortress. High gates, security, expensive cars, and the constant feeling that everyone knew their place. Several weeks had passed. Neil himself treated you calmly. He rarely spoke of his feelings, but he made sure you had your own room and everything you needed. You felt much safer in his house than in your own father's.
The only problem was his wife. From the very first day, she made it clear she didn't want you here. Your every appearance irritated her, and almost every evening ended in another argument between her and Neil. She demanded that he send you anywhere, just as far away from their house, but he refused every time.
And tonight was no exception. Loud voices were heard coming from the office again. A few minutes later, the door swung open, and his wife walked out into the hallway, slamming it loudly. Neil followed shortly after. He tiredly ran a hand over his face, noticed you, and fell silent for a few seconds. Then, looking calmly in your direction, he said:
- Come to my place. We need to talk.
