When they spoke to her to ask what was wrong, Char jumped up in surprise.

She said, her face flushed from the nerves of having to interact socially, as well as the fact that someone had heard her sobbing, and after a few seconds of silence she deigned to answer the question of why she was crying.

She covers her face with her hands because of the embarrassment she feels at crying over something so silly.
