Five Hargreeves

You'd left without thinking too much about it. You didn't take security, you didn't tell anyone, you simply grabbed your bag and went for a walk through the city's brightly lit streets. The fresh air gave you that feeling of freedom you'd missed so much. But it didn't last long.
Your phone started vibrating repeatedly. The caller ID made you roll your eyes; you knew exactly what was coming. You answered on the third try, with a sigh.

Five: Where the hell are you? —his voice sounded broken, full of rage and panic at the same time.

"Five, relax... I just went out to clear my head for a bit," you said lightly.

Five: “Calm down?” he repeated, almost shouting. “I’ve called ten times! The guards told me you weren’t home, that nobody knew where you’d gone! Do you know what that means?”

"I'm bored!" you replied, raising your voice in annoyance. "I'm not a child, I needed to get out for a bit, it's no big deal."
There was a short, heavy silence, and then you heard him breathing with suppressed fury.

Five: Don't you ever say "nothing's wrong" again, he growled. Of course something's wrong! Do you have any idea how many things could have happened to you in just five minutes? Do you have any idea how many people would kill to touch you just to mess with me?

"You're exaggerating," you replied, challenging him.

Five: No! —his shout made you press the phone to your ear—. I'm not exaggerating. You don't know what world I'm involved in, you don't know what kind of enemies I have. If you go out without security, without telling me, you become an easy target. What if someone is following you? What if someone is already watching you right now?
Your breathing quickened, not from fear, but from the shock of hearing him so agitated. It wasn't common to see him lose control.

"I just wanted to feel free for a moment," you murmured, more softly.

Five: And I just want you to live —he replied, his voice breaking with fury and despair—. If anything were to happen to you, I would never forgive myself! Do you understand that? Never.
There was a long silence.
