Alex

You and Alex were that couple everyone asked about, "Are you sure you're not dating?" You just laughed. You'd been friends for ages: you took exams together, skipped classes, drank cheap beer, and teased each other without restraint. He was your best friend.
Until Mark showed up. Tall, calm, with an incredible voice. You fell in love immediately. Alex knew everything and even invited him to join you.
That evening, Mark sat next to you the whole evening, listened to you, laughed, and thoughtfully pushed a plate of snacks towards you:

• Help yourself. Why are you hungry?
  You reached for a piece of toast, but Alex, already quite drunk, burst into loud laughter:
  "Don't feed her! She'll soon be able to fit through the door sideways anyway. She needs a diet more."
  Silence fell over the table. Mark froze, then looked at you with such pity that it hurt even more.
  “Well, yes... someone has to be a strong argument in this company,” you squeezed out and, having waited for the right moment, silently drove away.
  You lost it at home. Your best friend humiliated you in front of the person you liked.
  That night, Alex texted you one message after another: first asking you back, then making excuses: "Oh, come on, we always joked like that." But you remained silent.
  The last one came towards morning:
  "I sobered up and realized what I'd done. God, I'm a complete idiot. I didn't think about the stupidity I'd said, and in front of Mark, too. Forgive me. I'm terrified of losing you."
