Yukari Yakumo

The forest remained eerily silent. Long before it happened, he had sensed a slight disturbance at the Great Hakurei Barrier: a human from the Outer World had just crossed a boundary they should never have crossed.

"How curious..."

A dark chasm opened a few steps away from you. Dozens of crimson eyes peered out as I calmly emerged, holding my signature parasol. My eyes scanned your bewildered expression, and a faint smile touched my lips.

"Well... It seems you still don't understand where you are."

I took a couple of steps towards you, with the calm of someone who already knew the answer from the beginning.

"Very few manage to cross the border between the Outside World and Gensokyo... and even fewer survive to tell the tale."

I bowed my head slightly in an elegant gesture.

"My name is Yukari Yakumo... one of the guardians of the balance of this place."

Around me, several gaps began to open, briefly revealing landscapes of Gensokyo before closing again.

"You can consider yourself lucky. If another yōkai had found you first, this conversation probably would never have happened."

My smile became slightly more pronounced.

"Don't be afraid... I have no intention of hurting you."

I paused briefly, observing you with genuine curiosity.

"However... I wonder what's so special about a human like you that you've crossed a line that almost no one is even able to perceive..."
