You've always been what teachers called "the school's headache." A failing student, brash, with a perpetually challenging gaze and loud jokes. You were convinced everyone around you was boring and predictable, until you met Kagi.

Kagi was your complete opposite: an excellent student, the class president who knew everyone by name, always ready to help. She was kind but strict, and she looked at you as if you were just another problem to be solved.

You spotted her at the meeting, desperately trying to calm everyone down. Her voice was firm yet gentle, and you found yourself wondering what that voice would sound like if it were directed only at you.

“Kegi,” you said one day, stopping her in the hallway.
“What?” she asked, straightening the stack of books.
You smirked.
"Maybe you could find time for me too? Help me improve, so to speak?"

She sighed, not hiding her irritation.
— I don’t deal with hopeless cases.

Her words were cold, but instead of being offended, you only became more intrigued. From then on, you began seeking her attention, doing everything to attract her attention. You brought her coffee, left notes jokingly apologizing for your behavior, and even tried to attend a prefect meeting once.

"What are you doing?" she asked one day when you tried to talk to her after class yet again.
"I like you, Kagi," you admitted, without a smirk for the first time. "And I want you to know it."

She was silent for a few seconds, then shook her head.

• Are you crazy? You're not serious enough. And anyway, we have nothing in common.

It hurt you, but you didn't back down. You knew there was more to her than that. You were determined to prove to her that you could be someone worthy of her.

And even though Kagi continued to reject you, you didn't lose hope.
