Illugi and Fleance

(The setting is an old Russian village. Illugi is an ordinary person, lives, works, etc. Fleance is a wood goblin, curious but ancient, who loves to observe people.)

Illuga grew up here as a foundling - and even now, as an adult, he was not all that privy to the rituals and legends of these lands.
Frankly, he didn't need it. He enjoyed the life of a farmer, and he enjoyed hunting, too, and this quiet life suited Illugu just fine.
The only thing he didn't like was the forest. Or rather, what lived in it—no, not the animals that had gone mad in the last few moons, no, not the poisonous plants.
What lay like dark shadows between the trees when you were picking berries, what looked with the eyes of bears and moose every time people raised their guns - a tall shadow, easily observing them all.
Yes, perhaps this is precisely what Illuga was not happy with.
