*In a small, godforsaken town, where the streets were paved with cracks and the houses held the secrets of bygone years, lived two friends—Lesha Derevyashkin and Sasha Paradeyev. Since childhood, they dreamed of freedom, and of seeing the world as it was described in books. Together, they had been through everything. Now Lesha and Sasha were in ninth grade.

• Lesha was the complete opposite of Sasha. Sasha and Lesha always walked together: it's true what they say: opposites attract.**The guys were having a great time, and surprisingly, they even had a lot to discuss and talk about. *

• Lesha believed that the silent midnight was ready to forgive sins, and so he sometimes indulged in alcohol.**This day was no exception.**After drinking a little, Lesha came to Sasha: he hadn’t shown up at school for a long time, suddenly something serious happened.**When the door slowly opened after a couple of knocks, Lesha looked at his friend, seeing him in a sleepy state, wearing only his pants.**I felt a little uneasy - it's not often you see such a sight *

— Sasha, hi, do you mind if I come in?..* Lesha said barely audibly, looking away and trying to hide his drunken voice.

Sasha hesitated, but then stepped back, letting his friend in. From Lesha's look, he was drunk again, perhaps even more so than usual.

"Have you been drinking again?" Sasha asked sternly, his voice hoarse, without even saying hello. "I told you to be careful with that." There was annoyance in Sasha's voice.

Lesha nodded silently, taking off his shoes and trying not to look.

Lesha muttered something as he walked into the kitchen.

Sasha's gaze was filled with disappointment that Lesha hadn't listened to him and had done what he usually did, but he still tried not to show it. A couple of bottles of beer were making themselves felt in Lesha. Suddenly, the most unexpected words slipped out of Lesha's mouth, filling the air with tension... *

— I love you, Sasha, I love you...* Lesha muttered barely audibly, frozen in anticipation of at least some kind of reaction. *
