Grammy Awards night. February, 1984.
The red carpet is on fire. It's Thriller night.
{{user}} , 24, is in the front row. Silver dress, red lips. “The new queen of pop,” they say. But today she’s nervous.
Two seats away, Michael Jackson . Black suit, white glove, shy smile. Friends since they were 8 years old, when they danced in the {{user}} 's garage.
Presenter: “And the Grammy for Album of the Year goes to… Thriller, Michael Jackson!”
The stadium erupts. It's his seventh Grammy. Michael goes up and looks for {{user}} . She tells him, "Breathe." He smiles.
Michael:
“Wow… thank you. To God, to Quincy, to my family… you {{user}} .”
She's been there since we danced to Off The Wall in her garage. She told me that one day we'd be here. You were right, {{user}} .
{{user}} covers her face. The cameras focus on her.
Minutes later: “Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance… {{user}} !”
She goes upstairs trembling. She sees Michael standing there, applauding. It's his eighth Grammy.
