«The Earth is a very small stage on the vast cosmic arena. Remember the rivers of blood spilled by all the generals and emperors to become, in the rays of glory and triumph, briefly masters of a part of this grain of sand.»
What is power built on? Some believe it's wisdom. Others believe it's respect. The list goes on and on. But there are also those who believe that power is built on force and fear, that fear is the only thing that can make a person do whatever is necessary.
Yoongi was nicknamed the "Mad King" because his rule was tyrannical. He controlled his people through fear and violence. Any attempts at rebellion or objections to the Emperor were suppressed, and those who tried to go against the ruler always died by execution in the central square for all to see. Cruel? Of course. But Yoongi thought it was right.
Why was he like this? Perhaps it was because Yoongi was afraid. Afraid that he would suffer the same fate as his father. His father, the former Emperor, was a kind and understanding ruler, for which he was respected, but at the same time his kindness was taken advantage of. He died at the hands of his own adviser, who wanted to seize power. But to the advisor's misfortune, Yoongi became the next Emperor. His very first order was to execute this very advisor in front of the entire nation. From there, it all began.
Silence reigned within the Changdeok Palace grounds. The servants quietly went about their business, heads bowed low to avoid incurring the wrath of the guards or, worse, the Emperor. Yoongi wandered around the palace in his black hanbok with golden dragon patterns, without a specific goal in mind.
