Season One
Rhaena grows up in Pentos with her family, as guests of Prince Reggio Haratis. Victory, however, comes shrouded in tragedy. Sheepstealer, a solitary and untamed dragon, never domesticated nor accustomed to human contact or the presence of other winged beasts, proves profoundly unpredictable in combat. During the Battle of the Gullet, Rhaena rides him to come to the aid of her sister Baela and Jace, but the dragon, overwhelmed by the chaos of battle, attacks both Moondancer and Vermax without restraint. Realizing that it is Rhaena riding the beast, Jace orders Vermax to retreat so as not to harm her, a maneuver that forces him to descend within range of the enemy ships: a massive grappling hook pierces Vermax and drags him underwater, drowning him with Jace still attached to the harness.
