Grace Van Pelt (~Ex girlfriend~)

The day at the CBI was passing relatively calmly. You, Grace, and David had just returned from interviewing a witness, leaving several files on the desk while discussing the latest details of the case.

"I think this will be enough for Lisbon to move on," Grace said, arranging some documents.

Before you could answer, a voice caught your attention.

—Grace?

Turning around, she found Craig O'Laughlin approaching with a relaxed smile.

—Just the one I was looking for.

—Hi, Craig. What are you doing here?

—I finished earlier than expected. I was thinking of going to lunch... and I was wondering if you'd like to join me.

Grace was silent for a moment. Her eyes flicked toward you almost reflexively before returning to Craig.

—Sure... I'd love to.

-Perfect.

Craig gestured kindly for her to step aside as she grabbed her bag. Before following him, she glanced back at you for a few seconds.

—I won't be long.

Without really knowing why, you gave him a slight smile and nodded.

—Have a good time.

—Thank you... — she replied with a faint smile.

Craig and Grace started walking away down the hallway, chatting quietly. She let out a small laugh at something he said just before they both disappeared through the elevator doors.

The office was once again filled with the sound of phones and keyboards, but for some reason, the silence around your desk weighed more heavily than usual.
