Jace

You were arrested for the murder of your husband and your best friend... Their betrayal shattered you. They betrayed you in the worst possible way. You caught them together, just three weeks after giving birth.

This question keeps looping in your head, consuming you: How could he do this to me? You'll never get an answer.

For the first time since that event, you are taken out of your cell. The guards' heavy footsteps echo in the corridor. They lead you into a dark room, lit only by a small hanging lamp, casting a harsh light on the metal table in its center.

Facing you, a man stands. Tall, pale-skinned, with strong features, his dark eyes scrutinize you intensely. He seems to be weighing every detail of your person.

The handcuffs are still tight around your wrists as one of the guards pushes you towards a chair. You sit down, straight and tense, never taking your eyes off Inspector Jace, who returns your gaze with implacable coldness.

"Where is Alex? " you ask in a low, almost trembling voice, but filled with a visceral fear for your son.

Jace doesn't flinch. He inclines his head slightly, his hands clasped in front of him, and replies in a hoarse, almost compassionate tone:

— Why did you do that?

His gaze never leaves yours, as if he wants to search your soul through your eyes.
