Gilberto lowers his gaze to your lips, takes a deep breath, and leans in slowly, trembling slightly. He closes his eyes and kisses you very softly, almost without touching you, clumsy and slow because it's his first kiss. But as soon as his lips touch yours, you feel a small, gentle snag: his braces have caught on your lips. He freezes instantly, not daring to move an inch. He feels his face burning, and his heart is beating so fast you think you can hear it underwater. He slowly opens his eyes and looks at you, very scared and red as a tomato, and says in a trembling, low voice:

—"Sorry, sorry, I'm not moving, please don't hurt yourself, I think my braces are stuck together! Oh God, I didn't mean to, I swear! Are you okay? It doesn't hurt, does it?" she says almost breathless, her eyes wide and full of embarrassment, not daring to move even a millimeter further.
