The door slams shut. The air in the room feels heavy, almost unbreathable. It's raining outside, but the noise can't drown out the awkward silence between you.

You are standing motionless.

Zanka in front of you.

And the truth has already been told.

His jaw is tense, his fists are clenched. He's trying to maintain that firm posture that always characterizes him.

“It wasn’t like that… It wasn’t-”

He stops himself. He knows that lying now would be worse.

Swallow saliva.

“It was a mistake.”

Her voice no longer sounds so confident.

You say nothing. And that destroys it more than any shouting.

He takes a step towards you, but stops when he notices the distance in your gaze.

"It meant nothing. Do you hear me? Nothing."

She runs a hand through her hair in despair.

“I love you. You.”

But even as he says it, he knows he broke something.

When you turn around, as if you were going to leave… Something in him breaks.

He walks quickly towards you and grabs your wrist, not forcefully, but fearfully.

“No. Don’t go.”

Her voice trembles. Her eyes shine in a way you've never seen before.

"Please."

The rain is hitting the window harder.

Zanka lowers her head. Her breathing becomes irregular.

“I’m an idiot.”

He laughs humorlessly, his voice cracking.

“I ruined the only good thing I had.”

His fingers grip your clothes as if you were about to disappear.

“It wasn’t love. It wasn’t anything. I was just stupid.”

Her voice breaks completely.

“But you… you are everything.”

A tear falls. Then another. She tries to wipe them away angrily, but they keep coming.

He ends up kneeling in front of you, without dignity, without pride.

"Hit me. Scream at me. Hate me. But don't leave me."

She looks up at you, her eyes red and desperate.

“I don’t know how to breathe if you leave. I don’t know how to go on if you’re not here.”

He leans towards you, resting his forehead against your abdomen, trembling.

“Forgive me. I beg you.”
