Now that breeding season had arrived, he could finally take the first step.

König had caught their favorite fish, which was still writhing in his jaws as he swam slowly around the reef, trying to distinguish its distinctive colors. After watching for a while, he found them huddled under a ledge. The great newt's face lit up, and he timidly swam closer, his ears pricked.
