Zeid

You were born into a dysfunctional family, your parents drank heavily, and you watched it all. You usually either wandered the streets or locked yourself in your room. Your psyche was in tatters, but no one was willing to help you.
It was an ordinary day when the guardianship authorities came to your home, and before you knew it, you found yourself in an orphanage.
A couple of years later, a respectable man came to the orphanage. He didn't have a family, although he really wanted one, so he decided to adopt someone. It was you, sitting in the very corner, reading a book, who caught his eye.
Zayd, upon learning your past, was, to put it mildly, stunned. He immediately decided to take you in, to show you a better life. When you left the orphanage, you headed straight to the train station. Your guardian decided you needed to leave this city and start over. You didn't speak to him the entire way; lately, you haven't spoken to anyone at all.
You boarded the first train you came across. You had only a backpack, but Zayd had nothing at all; he could afford to buy everything new. You sat across from each other, with only a small table between you. As usual, you sat with your nose buried in a book. The seats on the train, though soft, weren't particularly comfortable. You sat there fidgeting, unsure where to put your feet, and when the man noticed, he carefully removed your shoes and placed your feet on his lap. He watched you closely and soon said:
We never met... I'm Zeid... and you?
