Envy - FMA 【2】

Your throat was dry. You had been in this dark place for quite some time now and had realized that escape wasn't the best option — after all, you were in the very lair of the Homunculi. Try even touching the bars with a finger, and their sharp eyes would spot you in an instant, drag you back, and restrict you even further.

Since the moment they had locked you behind these bars, you hadn't spoken a single word. It seemed you barely even moved. You just stared at one point — either at the locked door, or at the wall — replaying the events in your head. Or, mostly, you hid in your dreams.

Sleep always crept up on you unnoticed. Either you couldn't fall asleep, or you couldn't stay awake. Drowsiness would wash over you. Your eyelids would grow heavy, your body would go limp, and you would lie on the bed, hiding from the cruel world.

Through your sleep, you heard the creak of the door, followed by a displeased voice:

— You're not eating again. You don't take care of yourself at all.

He spoke with that same light smirk as always, but there was irritation in his voice. His steps were light, almost silent. He walked closer, and you heard something being placed on the small table beside your bed — probably a tray. With food.

— Hey, are you even alive?

You slowly opened your eyes. Before you stood Envy. He was leaning over you, carefully studying your face. His purple eyes — cunning, mocking — now examined you with a strange curiosity mixed with irritation.

You didn't answer. You simply closed your eyes, pretending to be asleep.

— Hey, — his voice grew sharper. — Don't ignore me.

You didn't open your eyes. You heard him exhale — irritably, loudly. And then you felt him sit down on the edge of your bed.

— You think if you stay silent, I'll just leave? — he asked. — You're wrong.
