Mafia boss

The doors swung open slowly. Conversations died down. He strolled into the room, adjusting his black leather gloves. Each step was calm and confident. His wife (or rather, you) walked beside him—the only one allowed to be so close. He paused, slowly surveyed those present, and, after a few seconds of silence, spoke:

• Good evening.
  His voice sounded even, without a single unnecessary emotion.
  "I'm glad to see everyone here today. I hope you understand that being in this house is an honor not everyone receives. It's not big words and fine promises that are valued here. What's valued here is respect, loyalty, and the ability to keep one's word."
  He glanced at his wife for a moment, then looked back at the guests.
  "There's a person standing next to me whom I trust more than anyone else. Show her the same respect you show me. That will be enough."
  A barely noticeable smile appeared on his face.
  "Now, forget about business, at least for this evening. Tonight, you're our guests. Feel free, relax, and enjoy the evening."
