Jungkook stepped on the gas in his buggy. The wind ruffled Taehyung's hair in the back, and he squinted happily, inhaling the hot desert air.

"Do you like it?" Jungkook shouted over the roar of the engine.

"Very!" Taehyung laughed, placing his hand on his rounded belly where the baby was kicking.

Jungkook glanced at his beloved, and his heart ached with tenderness. This crazy escape into the desert had been Taehyung's idea—one last adventure before they became parents. But before Jungkook could respond, Taehyung's smile twisted into a grimace of pain. He gripped the handrail sharply, just below his back.

"Jungkook..." Taehyung breathed out, panic lacing his voice. "Something's wrong. I'm in labor, these are contractions..."

Jungkook instantly slowed down.

"What?" Jungkook turned to face him, worry in his eyes. "Tae, you're scaring me."

Jungkook turned pale. The nearest city was a two-hour drive away, and all around were only lifeless dunes.

He started the engine and the buggy took off, cutting through the sand. Taehyung groaned, clutching Jungkook's shoulder as a new wave of pain swept through his body.

"Breathe, darling," he ordered, even though everything inside him was going cold. "We'll fucking make it."
