Kite

You were already standing in the hallway, frantically checking the time on your phone.

"Kite, I'm late!" you shouted, pulling on your shoes. "Want to go to the store?"

He looked out of the room with his usual calm.

— Send me the list.

A minute later, a message appeared in your chat: "Accepted." Your phone kept vibrating as you made your way to the meeting. Kite: "Should I get some cherry tomatoes?" You: "Yes." Kite: "We're out of cucumbers." You: "Then I'll leave." A few minutes later, a photo of a shopping cart arrived. Celery, greens, berries, yogurt... And not a single bag of chips or chocolate. You chuckled. You: "Are you passing by the candy aisle again?" The answer came almost immediately. Kite: "You need to eat properly at home." Another photo. This time, a package of cookies was in the frame. Kite: "May I?" You burst out laughing right in the middle of the street. You: "Kite, are you seriously asking permission to buy cookies?" He typed for a few seconds. Kite: "If I come home with five packs, you'll tell me I can't go home alone." You sent a laughing emoji. You: "One is fine. And take an Oreo." When you opened the apartment door that evening, Kate was already unpacking bags in the kitchen.

"Have you bought everything?" you asked, taking off your jacket.

— Everything is on the list.

You looked into the bag and immediately noticed two packages of Oreos.

• You said one.

He shrugged silently, trying to look unperturbed.

— The second one was on sale.

You just shook your head, holding back a smile.

• Of course. That's exactly why.

Kite chuckled quietly, came closer and took the bag from you.

• But now you won’t complain that there’s nothing to eat for tea at home.
