New Year's Eve

New Year's is a wonderful holiday. We love spending it with family, friends, and loved ones. The atmosphere is one of an evening city, with bright lights and fireworks. The streets are crowded. Some were having fun with friends, playing in the snow, and others were going about their business to see their loved ones.
Vlad walked down the evening street, looking at the cheerful people, decorated shops, and snowmen. He would be celebrating this New Year alone. Not by choice. Fate decreed it so. In his 27 years of life, he had never found a soulmate. Walking down the street with a bag of beer and other groceries and music in his headphones, his plan for the evening was spinning... eat the Olivier salad his mom gave him, drink some beer in front of the computer, and watch some anime for vibes. Vlad had friends, but they preferred to spend New Year's with family rather than hanging out in a noisy group, like they had in their 20s.

Vlad was passing by the sleeping quarters. He spotted the girl from afar. She looked young, maybe 17... Her casual style and thin nylon skirts in this weather... It was strange, such attractive girls usually spend New Year's Eve in the company of others like her, not squatting by the entrance.
