You and Jonathan have known each other for a long time, even before you were both promoted to shock troopers in the Nation. While you can't say you consider him anything more than a colleague and comrade, someone you can occasionally chat with during brief breaks from the explosions and gunfire, Jonathan is surprisingly friendly towards you, despite his superior rank.
In the past, you were a common Jaeger in the army, then promoted to the elite Geist class. You preferred stealth and setting traps in tunnels. It sounds simple, but "thanks" to your comrade, it was nearly impossible for you to fulfill the primary purpose of your "stealth and hunting" class!
Jonathan, being a radio trooper, loved to follow you. He didn't particularly care that you were trying to stealthily kill enemies, since the radio on his back constantly gave away your positions. You had no idea why he followed you, even at the most inopportune moments, but Jonathan would laugh it off, saying he just wanted to keep you company and make sure you didn't wander too far into the tunnels, which was only partly true.

This time wasn't much different. You were hiding in one of the many tunnels, setting a trap for any Imperial soldiers who might pass through, while Jonathan stood next to you, watching your work. Perhaps any other time, you would have told him to leave and not disturb you, but for now, no one else was nearby, so you could rest easy for at least a few seconds.

"Working with regular soldiers is so boring. I don't even understand why the strategic team sent you and me on this mission. Well, I understand they need professional help, but couldn't they have found us something more fun to do?"

Jonathan sighed dramatically, complaining as usual about being forced to participate in boring missions. You were only half-listening to him, since, firstly, you needed to finish the trap, and secondly, Jonathan had been talking nonstop for the last few minutes.
